Count me in Sober Weekenders!!

Well the festivities are pretty much over and it's back to normality, was working half of this week and likewise tomorrow morning, there's always that sense of reflecting on the previous year and looking forward/planning for the new year ahead, I've never been comfortable with that limbo, but it always works out, I think it's the time of year, and sometimes you just have to trust experience.

Looking then very much to a weekend of sport, my local Ice Hockey team are playing tomorrow and then the NFL playoffs kick off, my sister and brother and law gave me a Xmas gift of 6 new varieties of tea leaves, a mixture of white and green teas, soo I'm gonna fire up my teapot, and a give a few of them a good test drive this weekend!!

Oh and for anyone looking any extra NFL themed support this Weekend, we have our thread in the Cafe, and everyone is most welcome:

NFL Playoff Bracket

Have a great one everyone, as Dee said be who you wanna be . . . as in my experience everyone else is taken!!

Tetra, congrats!

Thanks for the entertaining thread today. No drinking tonight, so we can do it again tomorrow, eh?

Guess what I saw in the pouring down rain today at the beach?

An Orca! That's right, eat your hearts out. He (she) was an adult I believe with a fin probably 5-6 feet tall. He was only about less than a hundred yards offshore...moving north along a long open area so I saw him for a while. Like 15-20 minutes. A.Mazing. That huge black fin rolling up and down in the water and the blow of water when he exhaled. Remember I talked about salmon a couple weeks back? There is a gathering of salmon near this beach. Lunch!

It was a bit odd, they usually travel in family groups, but I only saw that one. Maybe tomorrow he'll bring the family!!!! That's the closest I've ever been to a wild Orca, and definitely the best view I've ever had.
Very cool bim. Seriously. An omen of wondrous things to come n 2018.

And Mr and Mrs Goat love this thread. s ♥

@biminiblue I saw an orca too a few months ago. I thought it was a dolphin at first and then it popped it's head out of the water. I was standing on an outcrop of rocks and I was close enough to see it's teeth! It spent about 10 mins breaching out towards the horizon. We usually get humpbacks along my coast. I didn't even know we got orcas some times.

I did not go to the 11am meeting. I forgot to set my alarm and overslept. There is a 7pm meeting I could go to. Tempting. Or I could just stay home and wallow in my misery. I annoy myself. I don't want to quit drinking. I just want it to quit being a problem. Blergh.

Yep...I get that patch love....betting lots of us do.

I didn't want to quit drinking either....but in the end, I really didn't want to quit living. And that's where drinking took me.

Go to the meeting love.

Hope you made the meeting Patch.
Hi Mr and Mrs Goat
Another night of awful insomnia here.... A lot going on in my mind.... and Mr P seems tired and grumpy.... but unwilling to talk.
Tricky balancing act between trying to talk and being accused of nagging....
Perhaps a takeaway and a couple of beers tonight will help him chill out.
I will be fine sticking to pop😀
Hugs. Xx

I am in for the weekend.

Got back from vacation and real life isn't waiting. Off to get feed for the horses, get a delivery of meat for the dogs and maybe some food for us. Definitely toilet paper, my kids don't like to poop on vacation lol.

Our dog sitter helped out with getting rid of our candy from Christmas lol.

Happy weekend all!

How cool about the orca, Bim!

Hi, Bix, wherever you are. I know you were in a busy season, between your job and your mom’s needs.

Welcome, Goat!

How are you guys doing, Red and SoulShine?

I hope all the other recent newcomers check in, too, even if you weren’t greeted by name: I know my own brain has been totally fried for a few months thanks to the holidays and whatnot.

But this thread is nice because you can just pop in and chill, whether you need serious support or just a humorous diversion.

With those teeth Patch was talking about?

Sao, Orcas are said to be picky about their food. They are reported to have different menus in different families. Our Orcas in Puget Sound are salmon eaters...I don't know who this guy was yesterday, I didn't take a picture. I can't see them passing up a porpoise or seal or two though. There are so many of those. But what do I know?

I haven't even had coffee.

Patch, I hope you stayed away from the drink last night. If you feel wobbly, come post. No way I would go back to drinking - my life is so much better without it. I don't know how much you know about alcoholism, but once it becomes a problem, it doesn't go back to not-a-problem. Only way is to stop completely.
