I used to have a friend whose answering machine message said:
Hi, you've called N....
I can't come to the phone right now as I am currently trapped under something heavy.
It was a long time ago and it was funny then...
If we don't hear from you by midday badge I am calling in the troops.

Heya, guys! Not been so active on here since I'm back at school and work, so been swamped with things. But I'm on Day 9 now - longest sober streak in months. I feel good. It's Friday and I know that spells a challenge to all of us, but we can do it. Stay strong x
Yes.....9 days is AWESOME girl!!!
And yes, Fridays are tough for me....they always have been.
I up my recovery tools on Fridays, and Nick (husband also in recovery) knows that Fridays can be tricky for me.
I have started a new tradition fo rmyself....I am Jewish and never really cared, but my mum sure did. So I bought candlesticks and every Friday night at sundown I light the Sabbath candles and say the same prayer my mum said every Friday for basically her whole life.
It is spiritual and emotional and it takes me to a place of love and reverence...not a place where my AV has a hope of gaining entrance.

back from my volunteering. it was a lovely clear winter's day - makes a nice change from the grey, rainy days we've been having lately. I'm going to be sore tomorrow after sawing wood & digging out a compost heap today, but it beats being sore the next day from bruises I don't remember getting!
hope everyone is settling in for a serene, sober weekend

Welcome to Weekenders Patch!
I feel that would not survive a cost/benefit analysis.
Congratulations on 9 days TW.
Lazy day for me although I have made an interesting discovery. Unfortunately there are a number of people begging on the retail streets where I live. Most do not actively beg but will accept cash, food etc if offered but there are a few who approach people for "spare change" Having a limp seems grant one immunity from their attentions. Not being mean, I do give to a couple of the passive "sitters"
