The only New Years resolution that matters...let's make it together.

Not my first sober New Years Eve...as my dad always said, NYE is amateur night. I had 365 other nights to drink too much. Still, this is my first year I've gone into with the intention to never drink or use again.

There is only one New Years resolution that is essential for us, particularly those of us in early recovery (less than a year), and that is not to drink or use. To take advantage of every tool necessary not to drink. Whichever program of recovery you use, whatever techniques, whatever support. Mental, physical, and spiritual.

Let's make the resolution together that we will take 2018 one day at a time, be mindful and present, and most of all...NOT drink or use.

Love,

ME

It has felt great to have never drank in my 40s as I got sober mere days before my 40th and it will feel even better to say I haven't touched the stuff in 2018. Just keeps getting better.
Even numbers make my OCD happy, lol.
Happy New Year All!

First sober NYE. Although last year I didn’t drink much.
Resolution is definitely not to drink. Although my second one is to work on my eating disorder too.

I’ve stayed sober for 147 days. I went to keep going. Now my plans are you heal my marriage and it’s cluttered house, find a better job, and start a family.

Most definitely. Sad to say, this time last year I was probably hungover. Not because it was NYE but because I was always hungover. Sober life is better by far.

Best wishes to those of with sober time under your belt! If you are making a start on day 1 today, know that you can do this! There are plenty of people here who show that it is possible!
