This time last week

.......It was xmas eve afternoon. I had been preparing some food to take to my mums in readiness for the next day. She lives very close by so I was able to go back and forth.
Eventually when I had finished at my house I went over there to 'help out' taking a bottle of wine with me. My mum is teetotal so I knew I would be drinking it alone but it was a good way to get out of the house to enable me to start early.
Normies would probably think nothing of having a few festive drinks while preparing food. I just felt shame and embarrassment at using my mums house to feed my desires but drank the whole bottle anyway.
Total madness but it feels good to come clean and admit it.
How I would love to be free of all that rubbish next Christmas.

This can be the last time you have to do it. It's totally up to you.

I agree.
It’s so weird to look at families that can drink together normally and have a good time.
That has never happened for me.

Good for you for admitting it Cuckoo. It's not easy to fess up to yourself and others. If we put the work in this year then the holidays next year will be healthy, happy and booze free. It can be done!

My family certainly can't drink normally. My sister spent most of Christmas night crying her eyes out because she was drunk and missed family members who weren't there! I was sober and had to listen to it before eventually giving up and heading to my room. I must have been such a pain in the bum drunk at Christmas over the years! Gabe x

Cool

Hi cuckoo

You can do it, of course you can! One day at a time, make a start (if you haven't already) & build those days. 2018 could be amazing & sober!

Cuckoo - Sounds like you're ready to leave that tired old life behind. Your wish can come true. I'm glad you wanted to talk about what happened.
