It's 8.53 pm NYE here in UK. I am signing on early as I will probably be asleep before midnight.
Just want to wish everyone, wherever you are, the best year possible and also to say a very big thank you for the help and support received on SR.
Here's to 2018.

Happy New Year all. It’s 3pm here in WI. A week ago, I had already decided I’d be drinking on Christmas Eve, but I was busy patting myself on my back for waiting until 4:30 pm. Had a few taps on the shoulder from AV, but logged on instead.
Take care.

6:20pm I am in Atlantic Canada just finished supper, kids are playing. Nobody is drinking yet, not sure anyone will much.
My one brother in law doesn't drink, he is also not well and his wife might have to drive. Hubby might have one or two with his dad. His mom doesn't drink. I am about to mix some lime cordial and club soda.
I just hope we make it to midnight lol. I got a hundred bucks worth of fireworks for the new year.

23:08 in the UK.
Trying to stay awake as I know the fireworks will be going off from the village pub at midnight. That will spook my dog so there seems little point in trying to go to sleep.
But I'm so TIRED (and sober...)

My son and I just started dinner, super healthy chicken nuggets and tator tots LOL
And we are watching the Disney movie Inside out.
Best night ever

Wow! I’m late to the thread! I’ve been running around like a chicken with it’s h cut off for the past two days!
I have spent the last five NYEs here on SR, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this thread! Right now it’s just under 6 hours from midnight on December 31.
Guests yesterday and today. Best guests we’ve had in years yesterday! We expected them to stay 2 hours, for a cordial dinner, and it turned into 4 hours of a tremendously great time! And just as they were leaving, the other guests came in!
We had a big breakfast, then snacks for the rest of the day, then we hope to have smoked brisket and a gigantic rack of ribs in a couple of hours, and finally some homemade chicken tamales plus hot BBQ sauce appetizer meatballs after midnight.
I’m pumping myself full of coffee so I can stay up!
The guest and the rest of my family are all pounding down beers and hard cider—I’m like a robot picking up empties and dropping them in the trash!
My son-in-law (the craft beer connoisseur) brought not one bottles of cheap champagne.
I’ve got a bottle of sparkling cider left over from Thanksgiving, which I will share with my pregnant guest.
I look forward to popping in and out of SR all evening.
Happy New Year to my beloved friends in more eastern parts of the world!

It's 3:30 PM here, Happy New Year to MidnightBlue and whoever else...
I went to the big hill climb beach and it was sunny and beautiful and the mountains were out. Olympic Mountains, as viewed from the Seattle area. And the Cascades, and two volcanoes. All snow-capped and lit up by the low-hanging winter sun.
I'm in for the night with snacks of Chex mix, trail mix, raisins and seltzer water (for after dinner....) Dinner will be light so I can have snacks. See what I did there? Gotta have some vegetables today, though.
I'll be in bed by 9 but I'm sure it won't last as fireworks are alive and well in this area. I don't have TV so the ball dropping isn't a draw for me. Maybe some "Once Upon A Time," or NCIS, or something.
Be safe everyone. Thanks for another entire sober year, see ya in 2018.

I’ve already binge watched both the new season and the older “classics” season of MST3000. Loved every second!
About an hour before dinner I crashed big time. The very idea of food repulsed me to the point that I wanted to die!
I took a few bites of meat just to be polite to the grillmeisters who worked all day in 10 F weather, but it was like sawdust in my mouth. I couldn’t even eat broccoli with my sassy Greek yogurt cheese sauce. I’m really done with food.
When I got up from the table ever bone in my body hurt.
So I’m going to sign off and sleep till five minutes to midnight.
Really, really crashed!
9:05 here—see you in 3 hours!
