New Year Weekender 28 Dec 2017 - 02 Jan 2018
Good Morning. I didn't sleep well last night. Don't know why. Withdrawals? Am bloated (water retention?) and a bit annoyed. I feel like an ugly duckling but one day I will become like a swan, I hope. Have a good day/evening. Last day of 2017 here.
Congrats Sao! That's amazing!!!

I'm so grateful to be on this thread tonight, my 1st new years sober in like forever... I have a box of ginger beer, there is an event on in the middle of our city with bands, light show, fireworks and an early countdown for kids, it's alcohol and smoke free! Going with the family, which has saved me as my partner was wanting to maybe get rid of the kids(they are his kids not mine) so I'm safe till about 10pm and by then I will be fine..
That is wonderful dear Red!!! I hope you have a lovely time....I'm from Melbourne by the way....moved here this year to get married.
Anyway, the alcohol-free family events for NYEve are awesome....huge in Melbourne too. ♥

Hi, weekenders.
Congrats on 3 years, Sao!
Great to see you, Trach!!! How are you doing?
Welcome to all new weekenders. You'll love it here.
I am having coffee, coconut milk and cherry souffle (prepared in advance), and watching long-awaited UFC night.
See you)

Good morning to all.
It's 06:16 in France on the last day of 2017.
I just lit the fire and it's coffee time in vmans land.
Congrats Sao and brain.
And to all the weekenders. I wish you all peace and health for 2018.
So it's Tonga Samoa and new Zealand in a couple of hours if I remember correctly

Samoa and Tokelau skip a day for dateline change - BBC News
only since 2011 though. they skipped a day then & changed sides of the international dateline:

I just realised I told a fib, I have spent a number of new years sober but only because I was working, so it kinda doesn't count and I would've had A drink when I finished..
One and a half hours to go and I will have spent another day sober...

I think this PPV UFC fight was one of the best presents I ever made for myself.
I enjoyed it immensely. Outstanding fight. Holly lost, but Cyborg earned her victory.
These ladies are as though as it gets.
I am hitting the gym in about an hour.
And then a quiet evening with SR.
See you.

On Day 3 of my sobriety. Not gonna lie - kind of feel a deep frustration rising within me today. I think it's because it's NYE here and usually, that would mean I have started drinking by now, despite it being before 2pm. Have a great and night all. Stay sober!
Staying sober today. That's a great goal, right? I can do anything for 24 hours. The date is just another day on the calendar, it's the celebration aspect that seems to trip people up.
I'm Celebrating my fourth New Year's sober this week. I haven't fixed everything. I still need to get a job, and that will be my #1 priority going into the year. Turns out money doesn't grow on trees. So that little ditty is true.
What I have done is proven to myself that I can handle anything that comes up without drinking. It used to be that drinking served some purpose but in the end it robbed me of too much and it didn't even work for quieting me anymore, it was just plain misery. Listen to sao and quit while you can if you are younger. Whatever alcohol is doing, it will soon become a nightmare. Get out and stay out. If it's a problem now it's just going to get far worse. Trust me, I tried this twice. Slow learner, but I did get it.
I hope H&S is reading along. We care about you, you can do this. C'mon back!
It's 6:45 AM here, many hours to go until 2018. Feels 2018ish now. I don't have any big plans - if it's fairly dry I'll get out to the beach. I have a fridge full of food so I'll come up with something yummy. I bought some Gouda cheese and it has been finding its way into everything. I have 501 things in my Netflix queue so there's that!
It's been a good thread this weekend. Ya'll come back now, ya hear? (That's an old commercial.)
