Symptom of PAWS?

The last few days I have been sleeping, but i wake up early, still tired with my heart beating really quickly..feels like when i wake up from drinking all night long. Anyone else feel this way (28 days sober)..is this PAWS?

Morning anxiety is pretty common...cortisol peaks right at waking, so it's normal to wake up "ready to go."

It has gotten better for me, but it takes time. I'm four years sober and I still have way more "readiness" when I first wake up than I'd like. I immediately start doing chores. Make the bed, fold up clothes, make coffee and breakfast. It goes away pretty quickly, but that first reaction in the morning, yeah. I don't like it. This was one of the things that kept me drinking, this fight-or-flight-feeling thing in the morning. I just tell myself, "you're okay, all is well."

This is something that I also have. It’s weird but it decreases quickly for me

Yes I had this too, for the first 80 days or so of being sober. I also had bouts of a racing heart and breathlessness during the day over that period. I was sure I had done serious damage to my heart. I saw a cardiologist eventually. All fine......I believe it is when the nervous system is still set on high after years of repeated dampening by alcohol. It went away completely after 90-100 days sober. Also, to add, I just relapsed for 5 days and the racing heart came back with a vengeance after just one evening of drinking.

I wake up with crazy anxiety in the morning. Mind racing, talking away to myself. A cup of herbal tea and 20 minute meditation really helps settle it all down. Try Mindfulpeace on youtube. I love it. Gabe x

Too soon. PAWS is "Post" acute withdrawal syndrome. You are still suffering plain old early recovery.

Day 10 for me. Heart has been racing all evening. I had 5 months sober and after reading this thread it’s just dawned on me that my heart palpitations had stopped altogether during those 5 months.
