Day 10... sick as a dog!

I didn't post yesterday but I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. Mine was quiet and pleasant. At around 830 pm, I was at the kitchen table with one of my sons, eating warm cherry pie and cold ice cream and chatting. He looked at me and said "mom, this was the best Christmas ever"... I had to stop and think. Nothing about the day truly struck me as being extraordinary... the only difference I could find was that I hadn't had anything to drink... it's a wake up call to realize HOW much my drinking affected my family, even when I "kept it under control " and didn't have more than a few... perhaps there was that fear that I would... take the drink out of the equation and that anxiety they feel is gone... I will reflect more on that in the coming days, I am sure.

Today I have woken up after a night of very fractured sleep with a nasty cold. So I am just going to take it easy today, and for today I will not drink.

Oh yes, the few sober Christmas times I had with my mother are the best
holiday memories I have.

I wish so much there had been more.
She ended up choosing the booze over us kids and it was hard to endure.

You're on the right track--hope you feel better soon.

Good for you! Kids are pretty perceptive I guess. I hope you get through that cold before New Years!

It can be surprising how those around us benefit straight away from our Sobriety whereas we sometimes take a long time to convince ourselves that all those small things are actually big things to others.

Great job on Day 10!! :You_Rock_
