Sobriety takes some getting used to. I think it’s worth it 😀

Some people claim they didn't experience increased anxiety in early sobriety, but that was not my experience. I was ate up with it.

It goes away. Enjoy your Christmas!

There are often a lot of emotions involved in the holidays. I'm glad you're getting through this.

Welcome to the Forum Kboehm!!

I think anything new in life, is always going to create some uneasiness, what's going to happen or how will we cope in this new unknown, a different routine, approaching things differently, how will the interactions with other people go.

But sometimes we do build these things up to be worse than they eventually turn out to be.

Take that leap of faith, and this time tomorrow, all the positives of Sobriety will hopefully shine through!!

Merry Xmas!!

Welcome aboard kboehm

Although none of those tings are particularly pleasant they are pretty common - especially if you've been a drinker for a long time. It will pass tho.

I tried to remember why I quit and what I had to be grateful for - sounds corny but it helped

Hopefully the Christmas festivities will help take your mind off it a little?

D

Congrats on your first sober Xmas. A lot of triggers and traditions wrapped around the holiday festivities. Get out for a hike, walk, go to church, meet up with friends for coffee, bake a cake/pie/cookies, etc. I write down what I am feeling when the anxiety, irritability, resentments pop up on me.
Happy holidays and it's so worth the uncomfortableness you're having. Stay strong and you'll enjoy a beautiful xmas morning.
