I didn't drink tonight. Not a single drop. But I still had a blast, besides most of my closest friends being at a party and my brother also getting wasted with his friends.
I opted against drinking tonight. I stayed home. However, my parents were drinking. The football was on tonight. Arsenal vs Liverpool. My dad is an Arsenal fan and my mum is a Liverpool fan. The game ended 3-3 and what a thrill it was.
Initially, I decided to extricate myself from my parents (dad was drinking beer, mum wine - they are moderate drinkers - only drink once in a while) however I couldn't ignore the screams emanating from downstairs. So I joined them. Even when they were drinking I had no desire to join them. However, I couldn't ignore all the drama emanating from downstairs, so I joined them.
Was so much fun. I stuck to juice while they consumed their booze. Was so funny hearing them trash talk each other while rooting their respective teams. Really had a blast tonight - and I didn't even consume a single drop of booze.
There is so much more to life than alcohol and I hope to stay on this path as I look forward to the future.

I was surprised too tw how great life is sober--you kind of have to discover
that by experience as us drinkers would never believe life could be fun without a drink in hand
Great news and congrats on your upcoming Day 3

Hi tired woman, I just wanted to pop in an welcome you to the forum. I read your posts this week, but was on my phone at work and couldn't respond.
This is a great post! No doubt there are some difficult moments of craving or fear of missing out in sobriety, but I have found the good absolutely, far and above, outweighs those slight discomforts.
Keep at it!!!

Great post tiredwoman! I think experiencing genuine joy and fun is a real gift of sobriety. Perfect job detaching yourself from the drinking yet still physically being with your parents for the match. I hope that it boosts your resolve and confidence xxx
