Hello andy and Hawkeye s

My mum once told me at a family dinner that I would have been called Stephen if I was a boy. Suzanne definitely suits me better.

Thank you. Already love this site. I am up late and when I am up this late, usually I am drinking. But this site and the lovely folks here are helping me stay away from the poison.

I was telling Nick (husband, still sounds so so strange to use that word ) that when I got here and got sober, I stayed in the chat room for hours and hours every day for two weeks.

The people here saved me tiredwoman.....literally helped me through every day of an awful detox and gave me courage and strength. And something I never ever knew I would find on the internet....love. Real people who care. It's very special, which I see you know already.

Very glad you joined us.

You are so right. Only been here a day but it has made a huge impression me. You are right about the great folks here. And I am glad you are now sober. I am sure it was such a rough ride but you made it. Congrats

And congrats on being married!! I take it is a recent development? My mum was joking about when I am getting married the other day. My eyes turned into those of an owl lol.

tiredwoman, we're so glad you joined us.

A funny story when I got married was I couldn't make myself say the word
"husband" for like six months.

I froze inside, and said something like "huuuuband"

I was 31 when I got married. Just celebrated 22 years last week.

(((tiredwoman))) ♥♥

I am a touch older than you and I never got married before....I met Nick here. On the 24-hour thread. His username is Goat. Last year I came to the US to meet him (I am an Aussie) and he asked me to marry him.

We had a lot of bumps this year....alcoholism is a scary disease if you are not maintaining it....and that is what happened to us. It was a disaster that almost turned into a tragedy, but we worked hard to get through it.

So now we are very happy and we know how blessed and lucky we are.

So happy you guys were able to get through it. Alcoholism has made me realise thatvnothing worthwhile in life comes easy. And I am surr working through your problems was not easy but you did it. And it was worth it. Also love how you guys met. So cute Wishing you lots of happiness and many many children

Thanks--like you venus, we've had ups and downs due to drink
but coming out of it and coming on strong recently.

tw, (I abbreviate peoples names quite a bit tiredwoman) I get it--22 years
seems like an eternity, doesn't it?

Making three consecutive months with the same boyfriend used to be my limit back in the days
before Gravity did her evil work to my person . . .

You know, when we had record players, no internet, cassette party tapes and the like

Eh I am a disaster when it comes to men. Partly because I have never felt entirely comfortable with completely giving myself to someone, but more recently because of drinking.

22 years is so lovely. My parents will have reached 30 years of being together next year. Incomprehensible for me.

My parents told me that the stork brought me.

When I was kindergarten age I saw the entry “Childbirth” in an easy-reading encyclopedia. I was astounded! I looked up at my mom with wide eyes and said, “Did you know that I came out of your STOMACH?”

As if she’d actually been living under a false impression all that time, and I was clueing her in on the truth!

Love the post.

The holidays are not a trigger for me, but I certainly enjoy them so much more without having to figure where and how to drink and when to moderate, and knowing that I will remember everything, and will not embarrass myself or others (except my children who I always embarrass, its my role, oh and there is my dancing....).

We got this, together.
