Really dreading this weekend. It's my friend's birthday on Friday and then Christmas is coming up. But I am resolved to not fall into this trap yet again. It's too much.

tiredwoman is here! Welcome to the Weekender thread, where we talk about everything and nothing.

I like your picture! You're very pretty.

Just remember today once you start feeling better, when the hangover wears off. Are you ready to give it up?

Aww thank you

Will definitely be active on this thread. I take it every weekend has a new thread?

Yes, you are so right about remembering when it wears off. My twin brother attempted to tempt me with some wine he's having today (he can drink today and go another 4 months without another drop). I love red win and the vomiting and hangover symptoms are all but gone now (thank goodness - I'm drinking water and juice like a camel right now).

I have rejected his offer. A small step but one nonetheless.

A twin brother! That's really special.

This Weekender thread starts a new version every Wednesday night/Thursday morning depending on where you are on the globe...then it runs for the next seven days.

I have rejected his offer. A small step but one nonetheless.
Good for you! Go to bed sober tonight, you won't regret it.

He is special. Funniest person I have ever known. And one of those in my family I fear letting down by revealing the details of my addiction. I will definitely go to bed sober tonight. Not going to lie - I am craving booze and weed right now but no thank you. Today's hangover was horrible beyond words.

He will love you through it, ya know?

That craving is going to be there. The first couple weeks are pretty intense. Hang on. Stick with us.

I know he will. He's a great brother. But I still fear letting him know.

How long do the cravings last on average? Or does it just vary from person to person?

Depends on a lot of stuff, TW. When I quit, I was determined and I just said, "I'm not drinking - no matter what."

The first couple weeks I wanted to drink. Then I was good for a while. Then at six months I struggled a bit. Now I occasionally have a thought about drinks, but I know I'm past the danger zone. It's just a thought. I don't have to act on every thought.

I'm logging off.. . time to get stuff done.

Welcome to weekenders tiredwoman and venuscat!

Went for a pre Christmas curry at Dishoom in Shoreditch. It's a kind of Saoutchik Christma s tradition now. The streets outside are raucous to say the least

Hi All, friends old and new. . .

Sao, we've just made our traditional batch of chili
which is our pre-holiday tradition.

I envy you a proper curry, though. None to be had here.

Happy Winter Solstice andyh and bim--I'm celebrating right along with you

I have the bug that's going around so I'm all feverish right now, but hey, it's good for losing those pesky few pounds.

It's Nick and my 3-month anniversary on Sunday (24th) as well.
You're allowed to do monthly anniversaries when it's your first marriage right? (not implying that there will be a second marriage, ha).

Oops....just realised you said your daughter will be 24 on Saturday. Happy Birthday to her!!! ♥♥
