Stay sober and things always improve

Title says it all...

This time last year I felt a million miles away from what I do now. I couldn’t have predicted how things would have panned out but staying sober and keeping the faith in my higher power getting me through and things have all started working themselves out.

I’ve been through the mill mentally and emotionally but I knew and had 100% faith that staying sober and true to recovery would mean everything would all turn out in the end.

I’m really looking forward to the new year; quite the opposite of this time last year. Stay sober and things will always work out for the best in the end. I can’t begin to imagine how coping with mental and emotional turmoil would happen if drinking was an option. Only destruction, hopelessness, and sadness could possibly be the outcome.

Grateful to be sober...

That is wonderful. I relapsed last week. I don't kow what happened. I think I need more counceling. Maybe a sponser because I saw a beer and nothing inside of me was strong enough. Now I am struggling With detoxing all of the alcohol.

My experience is that getting as much support as possible is vital to continued sobriety. Then with time, mental clarity and rigorous honesty you get to know what support is necessary for you individually and tweak your recovery network/program accordingly. All the best.

Stay sober at all costs and do whatever it takes. BTW this really tough time all happened with 6 years sobriety so life on life’s terms as really testing times inevitably happen even when recovered but they just make your recovery even stronger working through and always staying sober as the most basic requirement.

It certainly helps anyway! Hopefully when you sober up after being a drunk, you then start talking better care of yourself in other ways and doing the basic responsible human stuff to make it in the world, the stuff that drunks often neglect.
