At 16 days and trying to shake my doubts

Today is 16 days. It feels good to have 2 weeks down and halfway to my 30 day mark but it makes me nervous. I can usually get to this point because the binge recovery has become so horrible that its a huge motivator for a good 10 to 15 days. After that, I get slippery. The memories fade and eventually I choose to get drunk. For one night? For three straight days? Who knows and its scary stuff.

I have some new plans and tools in place this time. Like being here more, an outpatient treatment plan and some mindfulness exercises. I am happy to share that we just got back from an amazing sober weekend trip to the coast that I am very grateful for. Heres to a kick ass week to you all!

don't rely on memories of the bad times. rely upon your daily commitment to not drinking. continue to choose not to take that first drink, no matter what. it's not about getting to 30 days, or 92, it's about every day from here on out!

I agree with Anvil.

I'm trying to concentrate on all the wonderful things I can do (and am already starting to do) as opposed to being scared of my past self harming with booze. The problem with looking backwards is that you will remember the horrible moments - but the AV will remind you of the odd few good times too (before the alcohol really got a grip into you).

Nope - I'm driving this vehicle with no rear view mirrors. I'm steering it by looking through my windscreen.

PS - SNAP - I'm on 16 days too.

Make a plan - feel more secure
