Groundhog Day? Sure feels like it

Well good morning from the Great White North.

Day 1 again. Something has to give soon or later, this is getting old real quick. Addiction is a very difficult thing to overcome, and I'm still commited to quit regardless of the relapses and hopelessness I'm currently feeling. I refuse to sit here and beat my self up as well because that will just make it worse, and we don't need that. lol. I need another plan of attack here. anyways have a nice Sunday everybody!

I am starting over too. Spent Friday night and most of yesterday in a black out. I am trying hard not to beat my self up over it, but i feel like a failure. I am heading to an aa meeting at 915am my time (about an hour from now.) I might have to go to a few today. And now i have to walk into IOP tomorrow with my black eye from falling on face and tell them i left on Friday and chose to drink. Support and understanding to you from me...KG

KG looks like you're on the same time zone as me! LOL. My support and understanding to you as well. Let me know how the meeting goes. I went to a couple but couldn't get into them. maybe I'll give it another go. I find just being on here helps quite a bit

When I relapsed, first thing I did when I felt well enough was to look
carefully at my recovery plan, which included making a recovery plan
the first time I was really really serious about quitting , and find the "holes"
that I slipped through in my recovery quest.

That is, did I let myself get hungry, angry, lonely or tired?
Did I have emergency food like ice cream to put something in my mouth
besides a drink when the craving hit?

Was I getting out to exercise daily?
Did I have puzzles, books, old movies at hand to watch for distraction?

What were my "go to" steps of action if I felt really craving bad?
Call a friend, go out and run 15 minutes, etc. as a list I checked off
and didn't give in to drink while doing the list.
By the time you get through it, the craving has generally passed.

This all really helps change the pattern that led to endless day 1 cycles for me at least. . .

Don't quit quitting--you can do it.

I've gone days and months in the past, and those were definitely the best days, and most enjoyable by far

Whats your recovery action plan look like canuckleman - what exactly are you doing to stay sober?

I see you post after the fact a lot for example. What stops you from posting before you drink?

I've posted this link, or variants, a few times now - is it something you find helpful or not?

https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...ery-plans.html (Psst...wanna know why I'm always recommending recovery plans?)

I don't know why Dee. Thats an awesome question. I do always post after I've drank, but never before. Thanks
