Craving big time

Nearly six months sober and outta nowhere im having a massive crave for booze!

I'm very stressed lately but didn't think booze would come back to screw with me!

biminiblue 12-14-2017 09:55 AM

Right at five-six months I had a really hard time too, Chilled.

It was weird...and it passed. Don't forget to ask our permission BEFORE you drink.

There are 130 members logged on and over 1500 lurkers right now. I am going to go out on a limb and say all 1630 of them would deny that request. :) I knew my tribe had my back. We've got yours too.

I have cravings at day 8 and I’m sure I’ll have them for the rest of my life

Housebound agoraphobic.

Gonna watch a movie

6 months?! That is awesome. If I recall correctly you were having a rough go of it for a while.

But I am sure the cravings are commonplace for former addicts. Especially when stress pops up. Just today I was thinking how great it would be to have a drink, and escape for a while. But that is a bad idea.

Hang in there. Just remember how bad it would be if you started drinking again, and how terrible you would feel.

Again, congrats. You have incredible strength.

Thanks I really do appreciate your supportive words :)

Do y'all in the UK have access to HBO shows in the U.S. ? If you can watch Curb Your Enthusiasm, that would be awesome. I love that show. One of the best sitcom's ever!

Chilledice 12-14-2017 10:07 AM

Hmm not sure, I'll check.

I usually watch flat earth documentaries lol

Oh, Lordy. No wonder you're agoraphobic.

If I believed even the regular news (which I don't watch, BTW) I would be afraid to leave my bedroom.

Hang in there!! I am right behind you. We got this....don't let the devil knock on the door. You will get through this! You have 6 months now!! That is amazing!! :grouphug:

SoberLeigh 12-14-2017 11:00 AM

We are right beside you, Chilled.

You will get through this, my friend.

Nowsthetime 12-14-2017 11:25 AM

It’s normal. Ride it out flexing your sober muscles. The cravings will pass and the longer you starve the AV the better!

You are doing great!!! Glad you posted and relied on us !

biminiblue 12-14-2017 11:48 AM

You know what I miss? Ancient Aliens. I watched a bunch of those on Netflix when I first got it in 2009 or so. . .I loved that stuff and it was pretty woo. Kind of "Flat-Earth meets Planet of the Apes" or something. So out there. I had no reason to believe it and oddly, no reason not to.

What's your favorite flat earth documentary, Chilled?

*edit to say...ohhhh I can buy six seasons of it.

Thanks Midwest! I'm 179 days sober, can't go back now.

DreamCatcher17 12-14-2017 01:03 PM

The first time around for me, I made it to the 8 month mark, that is when it all came crashing down. I was able to control it for a few months and then in no time I was back to the crazy ass drunkard I dreaded.

That evil AV can kick rocks because you got this!!!!

tekink 12-14-2017 01:04 PM

Just think, if you actually had a drink those cravings would get amplified up to 11.

They'll pass .. eventually.

MythOfSisyphus 12-16-2017 11:52 PM

I hope you're feeling a bit better today, Chilledice!:grouphug:
