Hi HaS, I agree with Dee, deep breaths and wait until you know for certain. You are doing really well, you van do it.

I have spoken with my ex wifr this morning, I don't think my daughter is going to be allowed to keep it at home at least (she is a mature student) I am trying to keep my head down. It is air cooled apparently.

But mom, this Porsche followed me home.

I must have said that ten times as a kid - only replace Porsche with dog. I wasn't allowed to keep any of them, either.

H&S, please check in with us. We care about you.

When I was a young kid I happened upon a Porsche 911 selling really cheap. I remember it being really difficult to see beyond the potental and understand that it would probably spend more time in the garage broken than it would on the road. So I settled for a Pontiac Fiero that spent more time in the garage broken than it did on the road. I didn't want anything practical, all I wanted was a cool car. I spent many weekends washing that car.....

That's funny, Bimini. For me, replace Porsche and dog with kittens and baby birds. My poor mother!

Thanks, Gilmer, for your gift of this post! I enjoyed reading everyone's responses. They've given me a much needed boost and a path forward out of the dumps without a drink!

What I read this morning talks to the fact that we grow through struggles and setbacks. If we can remain sober through them, we can turn and offer our experience to others. And we grow as a result.

Is it possible the guitar players have different strengths? I could almost "hear" Albert King's finger strength as he played. Joe B. definitely has polished style and a pleasant voice. I like listening and comparing how different musicians interpret the same piece of music.

Welcome, Carpathia.

Herkimer. That was what I named the baby bird I found and tried to raise.

I'm horrified to find out as an adult that usually baby birds will be fine when they fall from the nest and that if a predator doesn't get it that mom and dad bird will continue to feed it in the bushes. (Not the featherless ones, though. I think their sibs push them out accidentally.)

Speaking of...8 days until eagle hatch. So much incubating! Beautiful day in FL.

MesaDog keeps us safe against marauding Bunnies out here.

A lil Theme Music below from The Master Of The Stratocaster [Guitar]. Many of the locations in this Music Video are within a 1 Day drive from us. Getting out and about in these ~330 Million Year-old ancient Seabed Formations was a good Sobriety reinforcement/distraction early on. For me, thoughtful distractions enhanced Serenity.

So beautiful. Good job, MesaDog. No bunnies in sight.

I can hear Dire Straights on your wireless speakers right there next to the fire pit, MM. Love Dire Straits.

I am back to my Saturday boxing-kickboxing ritual.

I skipped it last week (the first time in 3 months though) due to depression and damaged shin. Last Tuesday after the workout we were messing around and I threw a low kick at my trainer. He automatically blocked it. My shin hit against his. His is a pro and, I kid you not, his shins are hard as metal rods. I ended up with severe pain and egg-size bulb on my shin. And at least a month of recovery.

So I spent the last weekend binge-watching Prison Break. Never saw this show. Got totally obsessed with both brothers. They are too cute to be real)

One of the banks sent me a letter with threats to show up at my door. Whatever. But the urge to escape to some far-away galaxy escalates.

Great to see you, Mesa.

Here's my musical contribution. I try to listen to this song at least once a day. For some reason it really calms me for a couple of minutes.

Have a good one, weekenders.

Doing paperwork and it about has me whipped. I did get a deal on pizza today so I am set for watching tv this evening. PapaJohns: Don't know if I should be posting codes but willing to give what I used out if you wanna pm me (one half/one free)
I had a crappy Friday evening. I am going to have to take the car in to be fixed even after all my prep work before the interlock was put on. I'm terribly upset at having to figure out how they can work on it with me having to blow, the embarrassment, etc. Also found out my court date. So I am going to try to just forget about all that for the evening and comfort eat. Root beer with my pizza - all sober style ya know.

Hi all,

I went to my office Christmas party last night. We went to a pub first which was dreadfully dull. I couldn't hear a thing over the noise and shouting ('singing'). I have been to this place before in the past. It was never a nice place. The owners have re-named it something-or-other and now it seems to be the "it' place to be. I scarped off to the restaurant as fast as I could and my consultant was already there greeting people. 30 something people had been invited to a sit down dinner (paid for by the consultants). It wasn't too bad, even when I sat down and my consultant chose the chair next to mine and said 'do you mind if I sit here?' We did have a chat over dinner and there was about 8 people at the table. He kept moving around between courses to chat to other people. There was a sing song after the dinner and I think we finished up around 1 AM. Then some of the others wanted to go back to the bar. I don't know why I agreed to go but I did and danced a little. I have never ever enjoyed crowded, packed bars. I got home around 3 AM remembering why I hate being out late. All the bars empty out at the same time and there is almost always shouting and screaming in the street and then queuing up for a cab. No thanks. Not again. Maybe again next Christmas.

At least the food was good and I sat down and chatted with my doctor and the other people for a while. I remember as recently as 2 years ago when I was just unable to chat to anyone and spent my time hiding away. Even in the beginning I was so intimated my my consultant that I could not look at him or talk to him at all. Now I sit down for proper chats. Sometimes I wonder what I am doing and then I look back at my life and see how far I have come.

Hope you are all doing well.

H&S—please check in. We care for you, and if you’re sad we’ll do our best to cheer you up.

Ironically, even though I wrote that intro post about the necessity of interaction with other people, I have been increasingly isolated during the past 2-3 weeks. Until yesterday I was holed up concentrating on writing a term paper, and I kind of lost the plot of life. I feel like a stranger! It’s a very weird and uncomfortable feeling!

Such good stuff today, thanks everyone for your interesting posts. Tetra, you're so awesome these days!

I went to the beach hike today, and I'm having beans and rice and chicken for dinner. I would have jumped on that Papa John thing if I had known! Good score, Soulshine.

..and there's the timer!! Feed me!

Where are you, H&S?

Thanks Gilmer.

Great to see you MB, glad to hear you are feeling better. I have suffered from depression and it is awful.

So, I agree with the pond analogy, but I tend to have the opposite problem, all out nothing in. So my goal for 2018, is to focus more on Drops and less on all of Drops peeps.

I like the analogy to the flight attendant saying that you have to put your oxygen mask on first before helping others, I am all out there for others, but forget myself.

And that has led to my living in a state of constant chaos, work too late, bills too late, overwhelmed etc. But ask me a favour and I am all over it. And I always have to pay for dinner, etc.

But that means I can never relax because of the chaos. So that means I can't do my best even for others because of the mess.

Any advice?
