Day 80 came up fast!

80 Days, Yaya!

How'd I do it?

I came here often and read stories from 1-year plus, I read the newcomers post, I replied, and I looked at myself.

I attend 1 AA meeting a week, Sunday mornings.

I haven't had urges to drink and I can thank myself for that. The reason I can thank myself is because this time around ( #3 over 10 years) I FINALLY accepted the inevitable, I am an alcoholic.
Alcohol and I have a very toxic relationship, one thieving relationship, mistrust and full of lies.

I am now full of hope, love, and laughter. With a little emotional breakdown, some insomnia, my anger switch has been quick to flip as of late, so I am working on that (breathing and the serenity prayer). I make a living amends by not drinking, every single day. I also make amends damn near immediately when I am wrong while before it would take me a few weeks, if at all.

I just started to read the big book. I really am in no hurry to start diving into the steps as the major one has been completed, step 1. Admitted we were powerless over alcohol.
Every day, without trying I do the steps all the long.
I will get to them when I am ready. My other 2 attempts I was pushed into them, almost forced and it didn't work. So I am working my program for me and what works for me may not work for you.

I wish us ALL the best, keep coming back.

Fantastic post, DreamCatcher.

Well done on 80 days of sobriety - wonderful accomplishment.

Power on through a beautiful sober life.

Acceptance is key, isn’t it?
Once we give up, truly give up and accept that we just can’t drink, the way forward becomes much clearer.
Thanks for your post, Dreamcatcher, and congratulations on 80 days.

Congratulations on 80 days that's huge! It sounds like you have a pretty solid program. I work on step 1 everyday. It's a continuous process and as the Big Book says "progress not perfection". Good job on making amends right away i find that it is important to have rigorous honesty. Do you have a sponsor? I have felt like the steps have helped to give me some freedom from the obsession. Not all of the time but it's beginning to get chipped away.

Thank you so much! Progress over perfection, I use that all the time. I am not perfect and do not strive to be, as it is unrealistic!
No sponsor, not looking for one yet and there isn't an option for one in my meetings at the moment. In due time, maybe!
I am glad you have found the steps helpful Best of luck to ya
