Thank you guys
Thanks to this page I am on day two of no alcohol. Being a musician who has toured and recorded for years... I was pleased to find out Joe Walsh, Johnny Reznick and Adam Clayton of U2 are all in recovery. Ive tried this road before.. and Im piecing together a plan of meetings and staying on this forum. Worried about my next trigger event.. but today I will be sober. Thank you
Congratulations! That is an awesome start! That's how a lot of us got started, one day at a time. Something to build on. I can't express how awesome it is to be free from that other life I used to lead! Everyone is different but we are all the same. What I had to do was change people, places and things. Sobriety had to be the most important thing in my life. It still is because I know that I will slowly drink myself to death if I started back. I wish you well on your journey.
Well done, Tv1.
I hate alcoholism with a passion,too.
At least, it is a disease we CAN do something about.
When I got to the point that I loved sobriety, the 'haunting' was silenced.
Power on!!!!

theres a lot more musicians in recovery, too, some i would never have though could get clean and sober. neil young, james taylor, james hettfield, anthony keidis, clapton, and one that has me saying "if he can do it, anyone can:"
ozzy
i will add that many of them musicians stepped away from the music industry for some time to focus on recovery.

welcome to the biggest club that no one wanted to join. Alcoholism is only a disease that can be managed (NOT CURED). Keep up the hard work of getting through the first few days/ weeks. Get a sobriety program (AA, smart, arvt, etc) they provide a proven program with face to face support.
Good luck Tv1

Thank you D. Ive lost so much. I stopped writing and recording last year. Lost my manager and label. I went into isolation. Im praying to get back to writing and performing one day again. I just dont even know how to start.
Welcome, Tv1. I'm a musician also and so many of us, famous and non-famous alike have found ourselves in the grip of alcoholism. It has taken me into the darkest and most dangerous places I have ever known. I was ungrateful for the gift of my musical abilities, but now whenever I pick up my bass I am filled with love, happiness and great pride in my sobriety. Wishing you all the best on your sober journey.
