Get Busy Livin' - 300 Days!

Hey gang,
Thought I’d write to check in. Yesterday I celebrated 300 days of sobriety with a nice hike in the mountains with my g/f followed by hanging with some friends. It is hard to imagine that a little over 300 days ago I was in my cabin alone with the drapes pulled with a 1.75L of rum in my mouth. I was full of resentment, fear and self-pity after a week long bender on beer and liquor. It had just started innocently when I had decided to have a couple of beers to celebrate finishing a contract job with some friends. "I’ll just have a couple and then get quit in a few days I said to myself." Wow was I wrong! It lasted a week and it could’ve gone on longer. I woke up on Feb 13th of this year and decided enough is enough and dragged myself to the local ER where they helped me with the early withdrawals. My anxiety that morning was through the roof and for a little while I felt like my mind had slipped. Things got better slowly and I was medicated enough where I regained some assemblance of myself and was sent off to detox AGAIN. The next 24 hours were like hell as the hand on the clock slowly moved. I got no sleep in detox and left the next day. Thinking back on that detox stay I probably could’ve stayed there longer but I wanted my bed and some rest. The next few weeks I attended meetings almost daily, got a sponsor and started working the steps. I met countless friends who I put in my phone. Long story short it’s been a long road but it’s 100% worth it! I’m currently working on my 8th step and continue to take things one day at a time. The last couple of weeks have been rocky but I live life on lifes terms. I shared with the group recently that I accidentally picked up a drink that I thought had no alcohol in it so that mistake was a learning process but I’ve moved passed it. I hope everyone has a blessed sober day!
Garrison:thanks
