Neighbor killed my hot water system.

I stood up to him. Said for him to stop knocking or I would call the police. Hed been threatening for ages to snip a few wires in my hot water system He used to install them.. If I upset him he would do that to get back at me. Now my hot water system is gone. He even drained the water still in it out into the backyard. Maybe I was too blunt with him but nothing else has worked these past couple of years. Im not drinking over it. I knew he was dangerous. No point calling the police. No evidence.

He was also undermining me quitting smoking by smoking in front of me when I asked him not to. That was the final straw. Luckily I had already had my shower for the day.

I'd have said the absence of your hot water system is evidence of a crime.
Is this your house or are you renting?

If you actually want to, feel safe doing so, you could def. call the police.

They might not actually be able to do anything, but it might be a good idea to start a paper trail.

Plus, sounds like your neighbor is unhinged and potentially dangerous.
I would report it to the police.

enabling-give (someone or something) the authority or means to do something.

enabling protects from natural consequences of a persons behavior. enabling makes threats that have no follow-through or consistency
enabling behavior, simply put, shields people from experiencing the full impact and consequences of their behavior.

no evidence- drained tank, clipped wires, possible footprints and fingerprints........

Sometimes an encounter with police is enough to discourage future attacks.

I would consider calling the police anyway and filing a police report. Even if there's no direct evidence you can begin documenting a pattern of behavior.

You have a clear threat and damage to your property, that is definitely evidence. He'll continue to take advantage of you and abuse you as long as you let him, I would absolutely call the police.

I would call the police. He threatened to do just what happened to you.

I am guessing basement/crawlspace has hotwater heater and someone who knows the property could access? Call police! Doing nothing will only egg him on.

codes in some locations call for HWH to be outside, in case they blow up.

I strongly disagree in not calling the police.

As I have said previously, you would then have a paper trail, which is better than nothing.

Call the police and tell them who did it. You have some strange neighbors...

1. You have been vandalized.
2. You have been threatned.
3. You are being stalked.

Any of the reasons above is good enough to call PD. All three together amounts to your personal safety both physically and emotionally

Chances are this guy already has a "Rap Sheet" (Record) of physical harm to others. The Police would love to talk to him.

Call them! Protect yourself!

call police, put it on record.
Will be evidence should you seek an AVO.
