So I found a meeting to go to

I found a meeting to go to that starts at noon. Are there actually people that go to meetings at noon?

I used to go to a huge noon meeting. Like 100 people; it was at a clubhouse that was strictly for AA/Al Anon. Your mileage may vary. Some meetings are tiny. Depends. Just go and you'll find out.

The time isn't important...going is ;-) And yes, there are meetings all hours of the day as everyone has different schedules. Noon meetings are actually pretty popular as some go over their lunch hour.

my very first AA meeting (that i went to for myself) was a nooner!
a lot of folks hit noon meetings on their lunch break.
some folks work non-standard shifts.
some have the day off.
some don't work.

good luck, enjoy!

Yep, I was another noon person for my first 90-100 days. My homegroup now is a MWF lunch group, but I have added different times of day and different mtgs over my 21 mos. My key has been getting to know people and having a "home base" but as importantly, making sure I stick to my sweet spot of 3 - 6 mtgs a week.

How did it go?

My home group is a noon meeting near my work. Meets 5 days a week. Great for a mid-day meeting if my work schedule allows.

We are aliens too - some are from Venus and others are from Mars.

I also attended a lunch meeting while I was court ordered, as it was right by my office. Now I just stick to my normal, small meeting mainly.

Forward12! LOL I don't know. It was my first ever, there were 3 people there. Thats it. Some lady brought homemade muffins which were delicious. But they just sat around and talked about what they have been up to for the last week.
So me thinks I'll try another one tomorrow. LMFAO I'm pretty sure this isn't the norm.

You could call your local AA central Office
for location of other meetings in your area.

That would be doing the footwork, doing
whatever is necessary in getting what
you need. A meeting instead of a drink.

We're rootin for you to continue on
your path and journey in achieving
continuous sobriety.

Aa sharon I live in a big city so finding meetings isn’t the issue. Website lists about 15 a day just in my area of the city alone.

yeah, something that can happen, even at meetings of any time of day- they really arent recovery focused. more of a shoot the breeze get together.
theres a nooner i used to attend that was pretty good. attendance varied from 4-20. even if there were 4 of us, if someone new came in, the topic went to the 1st step. the focus was helping the newcomer, which is what meetings are supposed to be about- helping the still sick and suffering alcoholic.

cancuckleman, any chance that meeting list has anything saying what type of AA meeting they are- like a step sudy, beginners, big book study? those would be ones id suggest to go to.

I don't think there is a "norm"...every meeting of people in general ( not just AA meetings ) is going to be different based on who is there.

Worst case scenario is that you met 3 people who want to be sober too and you got some yummy muffins, right?
