Guess this is where we make introductions

Hello, probably like most people my story is filled with cliches.
I started drinking and it quickly became a thing I did to get drunk instead of enjoy a glass or two. If I have a drink at a restaurant I'm finishing the night at home with my own bottle. It's become nearly a daily thing and get upwards of a fifth sometimes.

Like most I've said many times I'm going to stop but I never do. Recently, due to another substance I took I realized consciousnesses was too amazing to constantly waste on being drunk. So now I'm here hoping talking to strangers on the internet can help me and vice versa.

I just want to be productive again even if that just means finishing a video game instead of laying out in front of stupid Netflix shows I've seen a hundred times before while sipping on a bottle. Reading books again, learning something new, etc. Anything.

Hello, I am a newbie here too. I'm on day 1 no booze. I had some periods of sobriety under my belt in the past. I do remember that in the evenings, instead of watching TV and not remembering anything, I actually really enjoyed the shows I watched. I also enjoyed reading before sleep. I am looking forward to these things again.

Hello and welcome,
Make it happen, you can get help but only you can stop putting the bottle to your lips.

So this is Day 1 ?
Or do you still have drink at home ?

This is day 1. I'm bout to pour out the rest of my liquor. The longest I've gone in 6 years is 3 weeks. The second longest was up to a week. If I can get past 3 weeks It's going to be amazing.

Welcome CT. There's some great support on SR if you want to use it. You might want to start posting on the Class of December Daily Support Thread. I use the September one and I've found it's been great for accountability and stuff. Good luck!
