Wear Sunscreen

Just an inspirational video/song.

As an Aussie I can tell you wearing sunscreen is very important

(I know the speech is not really about sunscreen but it's serious business nonetheless - I lost a good mate to skin cancer)

And just as thats important, as an Australia alcoholic I can tell you it's just as important to protect ourselves from the ravages of addiction.

I know you've been struggling lately.
How are you feeling today Polaroid? :)

I am not feeling so good, D. Because I`m in the cycle (yet again)

And yea, I`ve heard about skin cancer, especially in Australia. I am sorry for your loss.

On a totally different note;
That`s not the point though... the point is the link to the song...

Thanks Polaroid.

I'm glad you're still posting tho - I think it's important to have connections when you feel like you have no anchor.

Have you thought any more about seeing your Dr or going to the local hospital?

Yes, of course I have thought about. I may ring my Dr this morning. To maybe do an outpatient detox.. Inpatient are just such, ugh..... a hell that it is more likely I will K myself. The withdrawals are just straight out horrible.

I have tried 3 times.. No success, obviously. So, I have given up on that.

Feeling immortal, no matter how many attempts, no matter how many seizures.

I will continue drinking for now, because; F my life.

That's BS and self-pity and you know it Polaroid. It's just the alcohol lying to you. You wouldn't be here if you had truly "given up" on sobriety. Detox/Inpatient is merely the beginning of the journey to live sober - it's what you do afterwards that really matters.

I know, Scott.

I have talked to my doctor, and I got appointed to an inpatient detox today or tomorrow.

Am I terrified? Of course.

... happy December 1st ...

I really think this can be a great step forward for you Polaroid.

This time can be the last time you ever have to do something like this - I imagine it;'s scary but it must also be a relief of sorts?

Being terrified is completely normal...but it will be just fine. Glad to hear you are getting help, try and keep an open mind while you are there. Most importantly...find out what resources they have to keep you working on staying sober after you leave.

good on ya!! i thinbk many of us understand the fear. lookin back to your very first thread it reads like you had been drinking for some time when ya got here and then a few years since. so life with alcohol has been,in an insane way, the normal for ya.
and now fear of the unknown? fear of life without alcohol?
if so, something i used to help me keep fighting and workin on me was fear of the known- what life WITH alcohol would be like.

hope to read progress of your journey!

Less than 2-3 hours until I go inpatient, yet again. (and I am anxious as f*, as usual)

Maybe I will die, maybe I won't.

Whatever happens, my last tip for now is;

Wear sunscreen.

Best Wishes
