“Go Against the Grain” Weekender, Nov. 30-Dec. 4, 2017
Good to see you Tetra!
Everyone at work is still busy - except me. In December the orders drop off, as I am the sales bod it is my bit of the chain that slows down first. Suits me, I can go and annoy people while they are being busy

Good morning all. Great to hear from you, TETRA!
I am happy to be alive and free, but I am still so stuck in some ways. Deeeeep ruts guide my daily life. You know the Steve Martin line out of Parenthood...”my whole life is ‘have to’!” That is me. I need something new. Gotta somehow climb out of this rut and go rogue, off-road!
Gosh it is only Tuesday morning, and already feel overwhelmed at work and at home. My work is less pressurized, but more and more tedious.
Once I would momentarily shake off these shackles with drink, only to wake another day with heavier and more cumbersome chains about me.
Now...I don't drink, and I go over the things I am grateful for, whether I feel it or not. But I need more change. Deeper change.

You know...before someone else says it...I do see a relapse in the making in my own post above. This is exactly what I see others reference. And this is exactly why people work formal programs like AA. This cannot be one of my idle whines. I need to make some changes, and literally go against my own grain to do it.
No worries, won’t be drinking. But I do need to take some different actions as soon as possible.

Bix, are you off work this week?
Also...poodles? I would have never guessed that...I like poodles, they're super smart. I have cats. I can't tell if they're super smart but obstinate, or if they're dumb as rocks.
They're really jumpy, though. Skittery. That or they lay there while you blow off fireworks next to them. Again, hard to figure.

No, I am working. I took last Friday off, taking one day to myself at end of a short biz trip.
Yes, poodles are truly wonderful dogs. Smart and hypoallergenic. I had a black standard poodle from age 9 months to when she died of cancer. She was a rescue. Had been left at the vet after her first (stupid) owner dragged her to vet office at end of a leash and demanded “put her to sleep”. Of course the vet wouldnt agree and owner dropped the leash and walked out. My groomer fostered her, and that is how I got that sweet girl. She had lived most of her first 9 months in a crate—so it took a little while for her to come mostly normal. She never came to trust men in general, but did adore every child she ever encountered. BEAUTIFUL animal and so smart that it really felt like I had a human person next to me. Especially when we were in the car, oddly. She was my height in the passenger seat, adding to the sensation!

Oh, yeah. I've had them both at the same time. Dogs are more agreeable and aren't as quick with the pointy bits. I prefer dogs (sshh) but it's a pain to have a dog in a third floor walk-up. Plus the HOA rules say nothing over 20 pounds. I'm not much of a small dog person.
Cats are great companions. They just don't like long car rides and walks on the beach. A leash is problematic, as well.
