Hi All;

I'm in and loved the starting message Gilmer--really applies to work situation for me right now.

I'm kind of in the "long term" payback for my addiction phase for the most part.
Not so much immediate issues, but did things I now regret greatly like
not funding my IRA fully and drinking the money instead,
too much drunk shopping in the past and so on that I'm not quite to "take this job and shove it"
freedom yet. . .

But, now on a "no spend" plan and working with retirement folk to exit stage left when I can

Hello Weekenders.

I really enjoyed the OP GIlmer. It applies very much to me and I am working hard on it.

Goo oood morning. Welcome to Cleomie and Jek1126.

I've gotten so much done already. It's pouring down rain and I'm taking the bus downtown. Should I wear the short black not-really-that-waterproof-nor-that-warm jacket that will look better or the long London Fog beige lined water resistant coat that isn't that fashionable?

This is my dilemma that I'm focused on to keep from worrying about my doctor appointment. I'll continue to try to decide. It's a harmless debate in my head and it distracts me. I do have multiple umbrellas, so that kind of negates much of the inner dialog.

Thank you Gilmer. Your post speaks to one of my central struggles......ruminating, wallowing and manufacturing resentments. I am an expert grudge keeper. All self-destructive and pointless.

I am trying acceptance but it definitely doesn't come naturally for me.

I am in for the weekend and will keep acceptance in my mind!

Nearly bedtime here. I must say young Londoners are made of stern stuff. It is 1°C here (34F) and plenty of girls and guys out partying wearing not so much.

Love the post Gilmer. It resonates with me for a multitude of reasons. Count me in - work tomorrow and then I truly am in for the weekend.

Thanks for an excellent opening, Gilmer. I'm all in. As December starts I am 23 days from my 2 year anniversary. Things are not perfect for me but they are pretty good and that's plenty enough after my previous hell. Wishing everyone peace and strength this weekend.

H&S I thought your signature was big because you wanted to be loud and proud about your progress. And you should be, you've worked hard to get this far.

Happy Friday! It's so nice to look forward to the weekend simply for the change of pace and not the potential to drink more. Freedom.

Purp! Stahp!

Doctor (eye doctor) went well, thanks Gilmer. I haven't been in ten years. I don't have insurance for it so I kept putting it off and then became worried that my vision had some issues. All is well. I need new glasses is all. Much better than what Doctor Google told me.

Next up, toe. I broke it over the summer and my standard, "Oh, it will heal," approach isn't working. I'm afraid it needs surgical intervention.

Happy Friday, everyone have a plan for not drinking this weekend! Figgy Pudding for me tonight, if I still go. Toe, ya know? Several hours of being on my feet and walking. Dunno. But Figgy Pudding. There's always Ibuprofen.

If you are lurking this thread, jump in and post - make a commitment to a bunch of random internet alcoholics that you won't drink this weekend. It helps to say it/type it. If I can do it, you can do it.

Exactly. I resisted quoting Marty’s entire post, but want to thank you for it, MLD. That is very hard to deal with, and you show us what it looks like to be “past” it in a very healthy way.

Bim - I broke (I think) my big toe a couple of months ago, and didn't go to the doctor. I thought it would be ok with time. Not so much. I'm giving it another few weeks to see if it feels better. Most of the time it's ok, but if I'm on my feet more than usual it hurts. Or if I bump it on something. YIKES!
