Having a bad downer day :'(

Everything is making me feel stressed. I'm due to start a new job on Monday, but if the paperwork is not back on time it could be delayed from 1 to 6 weeks. I have a name of someone who can hopefully help me speed it through but hes not working today. I know tomorrow it could be sorted. But I am worrying if it isn't it's a long time to wait with no job, Christmas coming and no wages. I leave my current job on Friday.

These things give me such anxiety which makes me feel really sad, down and angry because I can't get things sorted right away. I try to be patient. But now I've put myself in such a bad mood, that I don't know how to cope. Previously I would of had a drink to blot it all out.

Argghh

Life is definitely frustrating at times. Glad you decided to come here and talk it through instead of drinking though!

Try breaking down the issues you have into smaller chunks. If you can focus on specific things you CAN do today and let the other ones you cant fall by the wayside, it might be easier to manage.

Thanks

I feel like I should have learned how to manage my anxiety by now. So then I'm beating myself up at the same time.

I felt the same way. It took me literally about 2 years of being sober before I finally accepted that I needed help with my anxiety too. Have you ever sought help for your anxiety specifically with a counselor or through self help? Counseling has worked great for me and I've also found some good podcasts and books on the subject. The concept of mindfulness is very powerful in dealing with anxiety too.

Hey thanks

I have been for CBT before and may go again. Just back from my alcohol counselling, it was very helpful. My miny meltdown and tears earlier are all healthy ways to deal with things, so that's a more positive way to look at it
