You and I are both alcoholics VMan - not sure it needs to be any more detailed than that.

Each of us has to work out what amount of effort and planning will keep us sober, and happy being sober.

You have so figuring out to do, but not about what your problem is IMO?

Hi all. My big Thanksgiving weekend is coming to an end after today. Tomorrow is back to work and hopefully not losing my job. I'm anxious to just get it over with, whatever is going to happen. Waiting around is not helping emotionally but nothing to do about it. I did get some cleaning done and am slowly throwing away a lot of accumulated stuff (junk) and do cleaning that has went by the wayside while drunk/on a binge. I have hoarded so much paper esp keeping bills from forever. Giving the shredder a good workout for sure. Extra bags for trash day for quite some time I'm sure. I hope everyone has a great day. Sending good vibes to you vman.

I'll never get rid of my very human problems. I'm a work in progress and I fail pretty spectacularly every single day. I'm just not going to drink at it.

Wow, the Christmas house is the linchpin! Who knew we all actually live on the same block??? Of course he has a circle drive and loud music, Bim. And as you are well aware, he lives on a cul-de-sac to ensure maximum traffic disruption on the main road through the neighborhood.

I secretly love the enthusiasm and slightly know the guy, so have a soft spot for him. And he is making up for many a sin-of-humbug among the rest of us!

Indeed, Bixy. Last summer "the house" came up for sale. I was super sad that the decorative gaudiness was over. It was an end of an era.

I don't know what happened exactly. I don't know them personally, but it is on the way to stuff...so I don't know if they decided not to sell or wrote it into the sales contract that the new owner was required to carry on the tradition, but the decorating is in full swing.

Love the Christmas houses.

I came a bit close to drinking yesterday. I know the factors, but I am still not sure why it was such a close call, compared to others times. Intense frustration, a sense of “back to groundhog days” coming after the holidays. I think I struggle with a loss of meaning/purpose at this juncture in my life. Drinking always let me kick that can down the road instead of dealing with it. Now I have to deal with it.

I stuck very close to SR all day yesterday, but I don't think I really said ‘hey...having trouble today.’ And that is fine, I made it through with my usual sober-coping skills.

Edit: if it was ‘that’ close, I have about 50 ‘next steps’ to take, at the ready. I will not drink.

I romanticized a drink earlier - stressful holiday weekend at work.....I brought home some food, ate, took a nap, then ate some more....

I keep seeing commercials for those laser projector Christmas lights....no offense to anyone who uses them, but they look pretty obnoxious IMO

Thanks for the pics of the Christmas decorations guys... that cracked me up... Thankful some of my neighbors aren't richer - I am afraid I would have the same thing happening. LOL

I’d rather see the elaborate lights than every square foot of a yard occupied by huge inflatable Santa and the reindeer!

They only blow them up at night: during the day they leave them floppy and deflated all over the yard! Not my idea of festive!

Maybe they’re all having a hangover day!
