Lost without him

I was dating an incredible man. We were extremely connected.
We had a horrible breakup but as he cannot be alone with his grief and addiction he moved on quickly.
That failed as well for him.
He came back to me to recently for comfort. I did all i could to help him although when he returned home his brother convinced him not to contact me again. He has messeged a couple times and sounds defeated and broken.
He will not come back to me as he feels he isnt good for me. Ive told him a hundred times to take my hand and ill help him as i was addicted to prescription meds in the past and know some of the pain he feels.
What do i say to get through to him so he can heal and we can move ahead together?
I know his thoughts are muddled.
Im lost and heartbroken.
I can see the incredible man he is behind it all.

Hi Dragonfly and welcome

I moved your post to our main Newcomers forum for more response.

it's hard to comment without knowing the full story of why you guys broke up, what his grief is, and why his family seemingly wants him to stay away from you.

If he feels he's not good for you, I'm not sure what you could say to change his mind.

I do notice he went straight from you to someone else.

Maybe whatever is going on is something he really needs to work out for himself, alone?

D

Hi, Dragonfly, and welcome to SR. I'm going to suggest that you do some reading (and perhaps post, if you feel so inclined) over in the "Family and Friends" section of the forum. I think you may find a number of threads that will resonate w/you, as the folks there have either already been where you are or are there right now, next to you.
