Want to be done for good

Hello , I am a 37 year old male . I have been sober for almost 3 days now . I have had stints of sobriety in the past , longest I stayed sober was 2 and a half years ( 2008-2010) . I want to know when this get easier? I am a disabled veteran and can’t work so I have a lot of idle time , usually I would just drink beers all day to pass time . Well I don’t wanna do that anymore , but I’d be lying if I said I was not getting urges already . I don’t remember the urges being this hard back in 2008 when I stopped . I have never experienced any physical withdrawals but I do get urges to drink because it’s what I’m used to I guess. I also have bad anxiety and panic attacks and was sort of “self-medicating” with alcohol , which just makes it worse in the long run . Any advice to stay away from alcohol would be appreciated !!! Thanks for listening .

Welcome, Jsymmes!

Three days sober is awesome!

If you have a lot of time, read and post here. I recommend AA meetings as a refuge from the way alcohol is promoted in our society.
