New to Al Anon
I’m just out of a 17 year relationship with an alcoholic. He is not in recovery. I’ve started going to Al Anon to attempt to understand why I was in denial about his alcohol abuse. I wanted to know if AA would help me better understand?
Hi, Lucym.
Welcome.
I think Al-Anon will be most helpful for you at this stage, as there is lots of understanding and support there for people who are just like you.
Not that there isn’t support in AA.
There is, but it’s different.
AA provides support for people who are now sober or would like to stop drinking.
Al-Anon is for people who are troubled by a loved one’s drinking.
There is also a ton of info about alcohol dependency and addiction on this site.
They are called stickies and are posted at the top of the main menu.
Good luck.
