Stressing when off work
I've been off alcohol now 6 and a half weeks. I've been finding many positives and my life has changed for the better.
What I am finding difficult is my days off from work. Today I am off. I am exhausted and want to relax. But I also want to tidy the house/do chores. Whilst fitting in time for my hobbies. But I am tired. Thinking of fitting this all in has me exhausted.
Maybe it is adjusting to the new alcohol free ways? My days off are now feeling stressful and I am feeling guilty about resting. I know I'd feel better if I got up and did things but I'm feeling so unmotivated and somewhat confused today.
Is this just a natural part of the process?

I think it is.
Many posters complain of fatigue and listlessness after they quit.
How about doing a couple of things around the house, and try not to get overwhelmed.
Then carve out time to lie down for a bit, maybe nap?.
Your body and brain are still healing.
It’s okay to take care of yourself.

Off work times do bring a special brand of stress for me. I went through many weekends doing almost nothing, zip....even while envying others their energy and hobbies/pursuits and feeling guilty for my sloth. I usually find that if i force myself to do one thing needs doing...it either turns me on and i keep going happily...or...if i still feel unmotivated and tired it means rest is what I really need.

Thank you. I think I am overwhelmed by the thought of it. I will start with a shower to freshen up and maybe a wee walk for some fresh air.
I don't want to neglect my household duties like I did when I was drinking. So hopefully I will find some motivation. Thank you

I felt the way you are feeling now, and it helped me to make lists. I would cross off at least a couple of items each day. That way, I knew I was accomplishing something and it seemed less overwhelming.
Congratulations on your sobriety!

That’s the issue, isn’t it?
We would like to amend previous nehavior, but sometimes it’s just too much to contemplate and we get overwhelmed.
Baby steps. The drinking didn’t take over in a day, it took time.
Time is your friend now.
Make a list, do a couple of things.
Like dust. The house will smell great and look good.

just remember, starsabove, you can only do ONE load of laundry at a time (unless you own or are at a laundromat). just like everything else - one day at a time, one nap at a time, one load of laundry at a time. i totally get wanting a clean house, but REST and self care are to be highly valued as well, especially in early days. balance will come!
