Hi all, I'm new here have a question about withdraws

I'm day 3 of a 13 day binge and have the typical withdraws and feeling sick, but today I feel like little bugs are crawling on me..has anyone ever felt this before? I'm paranoid that I have microscopic parasites attacking me.

I would strongly suggest you go to the ER at once. Sounds like your withdrawals are pretty bad.

Hi Bryndalynn

I've certainly had that before, but as others have said, maybe it's best to check in with a Dr.,

Do you mean you're on day 3 after a 13 day binge?

Withdrawals from alcohol are unpredictable, so it might be a good idea to get checked out by your dr.

Yeah, I would suggest an ER visit.

Best to be safe.

What are your plans to stay sober so this doesn't happen again?

The sensation of bugs crawling on you during withdrawal is common enough that it has a name: formication.

It's a sign that your withdrawals are getting dangerously close to delirium tremens ("DTs")/ seizure/ stroke territory. Medically assisted detox is probably a good idea.

Making a plan for quitting entirely is probably a good idea too!

It should be said I still get this feeling from time to time and it's to do with nerves not drinking now.

but it's true it can sometimes be a sign of DTs - which is why we're trying to get you to think about a doctor, Bryndalynn
