Gods Cake
GOD'S CAKE
Sometimes we wonder,
"What did I do to deserve this?" or
"Why did God have to do this to me?"
Here is a wonderful explanation!
A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is
going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend
broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.
Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks
her daughter if she would like a snack, and the
daughter says,
"Absolutely Mom, I love your cake."
Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers.
"Yuck" says her daughter.
"How about a couple raw eggs?"
"Gross, Mom!"
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"
"Mom, those are all yucky!"
To which the mother replies:
"Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves.
But when they are put together in the right way,
they make a wonderfully delicious cake!
God works the same way.
Many times we wonder why He would let us go
through such bad and difficult times.
But God knows that when He puts these things
all in His order, they always work for good!
We just have to trust Him and, eventually,
they will all make something wonderful!
God is crazy about you.
He sends you flowers every spring
and a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen.
He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.
If you like this, send this on to the people you really care about. I did.
I hope your day is a "piece of cake!"
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but
while we are here we might as well dance

Very thought provoking post Hope!!! All I know is that I would not have successfully recovered without support. And sometimes we need to not take things so seriously!
But believe it or not, I have to be reminded every so often, so thank you Hope!!!
Don't forget to laugh or dance!!

LOL hopealwayz! Perhaps "Addicted to Recovery?" would be good too. I want to believe that I am, in fact, addicted to recovery. I remember at some point, very early in my recovery, making the statement "Well, all these people with their N.A. and their A.A. are just using those as a substitute for drugs!" and thinking that I was making some kind of valid point. I might have well have said "All these people with their happy, joyous and productive lives are just using them for them as a substitute for drugs!"
Goodness, I fought hard against actually starting to recover. Sometimes I think the biggest contribution I made to this process was just to get out of my own way and let my recovery happen.

There's an incredible woman in my home group who sometimes shares about how she uses shopping or other substitutes for drugs and alcohol to change the way she feels. On one hand, she acknowledges that they're providing the same crutch that booze once did. On the other, they're not killing her, harming her kids, she can't get sent to jail for them, and they're not going to cause her to kill or injure someone else.
AA with a healthy SR component definitely are helping to fill some of the hole that's left over from the booze, but I'll gladly take it, with much grattitude to the fellowship, the community and Pusher Jon.
LOL
There is a solution. Almost none of us liked the self-searching,
the leveling of our pride, the confession of
shortcomings which the process requires for its successful
consummation. But we saw that it really worked in
others, and we had come to believe in the hopelessness
and futility of life as we had been living it. When,
therefore, we were approached by those in whom the
problem had been solved, there was nothing left for us
but to pick up the simple kit of spiritual tools laid at our
feet. We have found much of heaven and we have been
rocketed into a fourth dimension of existence of which
we had not even dreamed." -pg 25 of the AA Big Book
