I took my first dose of Antabuse on Friday. I struggled with the idea but decided it would help give me some space from my impulses. Yesterday I was gonna research how long it took to take affect cause I wanted to drink. I forgot to check and didn't drink. I've since checked and learned that it takes effect right away. Today was a day I would have been drinking for sure because football is on or whatever reason I concocted. I didn't because of the Antabuse. Think this is a good help. I plan on hitting a meeting tomorrow.

Sounds like you're serious about quitting and I admire you for the steps you're taking to get sober.
Stick with it. Don't drink. Take the Antabuse. Go to a meeting. Come here.

Glad you shared. Please do take the Antabuse as prescribed (I assume you are on the usual daily dose) - you can have severe up to fatal consequences if you don't. I was very fortunate I did not have worse than I did when I drank on it; I then took it correctly, and successfully, for the first 90 days of my sobriety.

IMO and IME, the right drugs can be an excellent ADDITION to our fundamental program- mine is also AA, and it has saved my life.
