Sobriety is possible.
Sobriety is a lifestyle, just like while in active addiction, that was a lifestyle.
Sobriety is a struggle.
Sobriety is beautiful.
Sobriety is a community of people who want to help and encourage others.
Sobriety can mean life or death to some.
Sobriety is finally ACCEPTING the inevitable.
Have you accepted that you are in fact an alcoholic/addict? If so, you can have what others here have, sober time. With Sober time you gain the tools to deal with life on life's terms with a clear head, clear conscience, peace of mind and accountability. Not to mention, the agony of relapse, oh I am sure we have all been there, ufta. I do not want to relapse, that sounds terrible. To restart, relive all the reason why I chose not to drink in the first place. Drink or drugs doesn't solve problems, it makes them worse.
If it were easy, none of us would be here.
I love waking up sober. I may not always want to get out of my warm bed, but it beats having to stay in bed all day because I am too crabby, shameful, embarrassed, humiliated, wondering what I did the night before and who I need to apologize to and for what this time. Lord knows I won't remember a darn thing as I was a chronic black-outer.
I enjoy my new time. All the time I spent drinking was a waste of time, energy and focus.
I am now able to paint, read more books, catch up on TV shows, help other's (not only in recovery but volunteer my time) and it feels so good to do all of that. It makes me feel like I have worth. I was not put here to just live a selfish life when I am able to pay it forward.
I am now more present in my son's life. I am able to deal with the issues a 2-year-old has.... Biting, hitting, kicking, being bored all without ignoring his cries for something to do, someone to play with, and enjoying the creativity we share together.
I am way more productive at work, almost too products that I get bored. No longer coming in hung over in my field has helped my communication with my clients and business partner.
You too, can have all those things plus more and personalized to you and your life. It takes 1 day, today to not be in active addiction. Do you have today?
