just 2 beer then im gonna try and quit for good

Just gonna have 2 beers tonight which i only have 2 and almost no money and actually quit this time instead of trying to just get control of it. I'm getting really sick of drinking its actually making me bored to be honest and drinking itself requires a bit of effort when you think about it. According to my Doctor I shouldn't be drinking while on Olanzapine medication anyway. So this time i'm going to try and quit for good.

Reasons are:

- Have put on a lot of weight (could also because of the medication though)
- It has screwed my sleeping pattern, Im fining myself sleep during the day too much and not at night often
- Its bad for my liver and my last test said my liver levels were a little high
- I haven't been to karate for about 6 months because I feel too crap when i go from drinking the night before
- My money drains quickly
- Hangovers
- Depression
- Anxiety
- It makes you feel you can't enjoy things while sober but I have been thinking and I believe its because of drinking that you started to rely on alcohol in order to feel pleasure while doing normal activities
- Its bad for you in every possible way

Great list! Now it’s about saying no to drinking and yes to sobriety.

Ozem80, I would hang on to 2 beers and drive myself nuts wondering what I would do when they were gone . Looking back it would have been better just ditching them . What does 2 cans of beer do ? 20 minutes of feeling slightly better .
Wishing you well whatever you decide .
Come back at tell us how you are .

Personally, I do not believe that moderation or tapering works - ever, not permanently.

I had a very serious vodka habit by the end and I chose uncertain life sober over a certain death by drinking. I went cold turkey and did go through significant withdrawals and PAWS.

I wouldn't do it differently.

Only you can decide to quit full stop - I think most people here will say that's the only permanent solution (and I acknowledge that people choose to do this in different ways) to all the problems you mention.

I decided to just have 1 beer and gave the other one to my dad. Got through the night, stayed awake all night. Gonna try and stay awake all day then sleep at a regular time.

that's a start! i hope you develop a bigger plan that helps you in the days to come. a good sobriety plan is like a special suit of armor than protects us against the slings and arrows of addiction.

hang in there! drink lots of WATER, rest when you need to.
