Hi and welcome Paul
I'm sorry for your situation - have you considered seeing a Dr?

Welcome, Paul!

Congratulations on stopping drinking.

It could be that the alcohol was helping you deal with the anxiety and panic attacks. So, now you are sober, those feelings are still there. As Dee said, talking to your dr could be helpful. I wonder if therapy would be helpful? Meditation is also helpful to calm yourself.

Hi Paul
I'm not a Dr myself - we're all just regular people here, like you

Whenever I'm worried about something I start with my usual GP (neighbourhood family doctor) and work from there?

Hi Paul, sorry you are experiencing this.

I also encourage you to see your doctor. Then he/she can refer you to a specialist or whatever is appropriate.

Dr. is a good idea.

To me, it sounds like a good therapist would be helpful.

Welcome.
