First Day

It's my first day of not drinking after months of consuming about six beers a day. I'm recognizing this is a problem and I want a different life. I feel terrible and curious what are some things to feel better? I'm drinking lots of water and resting, but my anxiety is high. Any advice?

Don't focus your thoughts on 'never drinking again'...you're just not drinking today. Rinse and repeat tomorrow,ect...

Welcome, and feeling anxiety in the early days of withdrawal/recovery is pretty normal. It will get easier as time goes by. Just take care to eat well and drink lots of water, and get rest when possible.

Glad to meet you, Ab. Reading & posting here helped me so much in the early days of quitting. It's a good distraction, plus you will learn a lot. You can do this.

Don't regret your decision. This is a hard, but temporary, transition stage.
This is not 'sobriety' and this is not the best things get :)

The first few days are tough.
Its rough - but it passes.

If you drink again, you'll only find yourself back at this point again in the future, but maybe feeling worse next time.

Stick with it :)
