My how things can change....
Hi All and a special thank you to rainyengland for your wonderfully positive post. I think some of your joy just burst from my screen and into me and it was just what I needed.
I haven't posted in a while, though I still read regularly and I have embraced the AA program.
Tonight (Sat) I am off to watch my son play basketball, the game starts at 730pm and I can't think of a single thing I'd rather be doing on a Sat night. 10 mths ago I would still be going to the game but I would be soooo resenting it and though it shames and horrifies me to admit...I would also probably be going drunk.
But not tonight! Tonight I go with joy and anticipation and humble pride, in my Son and myself....why? Because I am sober
A happy day, arvo and evening to you all.
Thanks for reading xx

More dancing bananas for this post too!
It's so brilliant isn't it? Last weekend my daughter had a 9am netball match. Didn't even think twice about getting up early or being over the limit or hungover!
This is exactly the joy that sobriety brings!
Have a brilliant time tonight!!!!!!

Agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments here. I used to resent taxiing the kids around when it impinged upon my drinking time - it seems so shameful now.
8am meet for a rugby game today was no problem.
Have a great Saturday, all.
