Some advice for....?

Sure, some people can drink moderately. If you are able to have one or two and quit on a consistent basis without wanting more, then maybe it can be done.

Or you can just jump off right now. Three cans of 5% beer? Why not quit for a few months and see how it goes. Even three cans a day is too much, healthwise.

Hi Ken

I was about your age when my drinking was at it's worst. I quit just before I turned 40 - best decision I ever made, man.

You'll find a lot of support and understanding here - welcome!

Welcome to the family. Why not go completely sober for three months and see how you feel then. I tried to moderate my drinking but always failed. I found it easier to quit entirely.

Most of us here have tried moderation many times, and it doesn't work. For me, I just obsessed about when I would next drink and how much. It was a relief to just stop drinking.

I hope you keep reading and posting and know that you will find support here.

Hi Ken - it's great to have you with us.

Like the others, I could never control how much I drank. One drink and I would always end up in trouble. In the end, it was a relief to be free of it. You can do it!

Moderation never worked for me. Best thing I ever did was quit entirely. like 3 beers? what’s the point. I wanted to get drunk. Now I never pick up the first one. I feel better than I have in years!
