Music is life!
Music is life!
What do you put on to feel good , happy and inspired? I love Alessia Cara she just makes me want to get up and DANCE! Listening to music is such a great part of being sober because when feelings start coming up out of nowhere... you have music to be there as your outlet to help you EMBRACE those emotions. Don't know where I'd be without it.
I definitely feel music a lot more now that I'm sober. And less cynical, apparently, as I mostly want to listen to happy (cheesy?) music that I might have turned my nose up at before. Whatever you do, don't listen to "What a Feeling", by Irene Cara, for example . No good can come of it.
I'm a bit of a metal head, but I do enjoy many types of music. Iron Maiden is my absolute favorite. My father and husband are musicians, so music is in the blood. I'm known around my office as the one with the headphones. Lol, I can't get through life without music! So, Rock on!
I love all kinds of music depending on my mood. I listen to everything from Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc., to Taylor Swift. Yeah, I'll admit it. One of my favorites that I used to listen to while under the influence, and very well-suited to drinking and our struggle is "Against the Wind" by Bob Seger. It really hits close to home:
The years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home, and I
Guess I lost my way
The years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home, and I
Guess I lost my way
Always been a music lover it’s on all the time in our house.
Very musical family with drums guitars and pianos in the house.
Now I am sober you can find me dancing like a lunatic with the kids on a Saturday and Sunday morning. Enjoy!

Music is a great relaxation tool for me and helps calm my mind.
I like all kinds of music, The Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, Bob Weir, other types of " jam band " types like Railroad Earth, Warren Haynes, Allman Brothers, then there's Bob Marley, then bluegrass, folk music ( mainly from the 30s and 40s ) like Woody Guthrie, and old gospel bluegrass from the same time period.
I could go on and on with different types and generations but it does help to take your mind to other places.
I'd have to say the music is actually my biggest tool to fight cravings.

I agree w Ash! I love music.
Unfortunately one of the reasons I used to drink a lot is because I loved listen to music drunk but it is not necessary. I've learned over the past month listening to music sober is just as fun, probably more so actually.
My favorites
Rap, Reaggeaton, EDM
Close Second - Rock like Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Linkin Park.. When I'm at the gym I usually listen to rock. Gets me pumped!

Music is LYFE!
I have music on pretty much all day, every day. Office, car, home.
I listen to a lot of rock and metal, modern stuff. I never got into old school metal (Iron Maiden, etc). I like LOUD, FAST, and the older stuff just doesn't do it for me. The harder the vocals, the faster the guitars, the more amped up I get.
Lately I've been getting into Punk again, I grew up on Blink 182 and they were "life-changing" for me. Blink 182, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Bowling for Soup, New Found Glory, Sum 41, it all pops up on the radio station I play. It's stuff I can actually sing along with, the rock/metal is hard to sing to.
