First weekend sober

Freaking out!! I have a headache just trying to figure out what I will do all weekend. I will be by myself, the kids are going at their father's. I can't remember the last weekend without alcohol.

Look in the mirror and say out loud " you can do this " .

Don't know your area or circumstances .

Go to a friend , aunt , uncle for a visit .
clean the cooker , clean the windows ,clear out cupboards ( closets )
Buy a nice take away ( take out ) Chinese , Pizza , Italian .
Watch some box sets .
Have long soapy baths .
Get your hair done
Get your nails painted green .

Make up a list and a plan .

If your struggling take it an hour at a time and keep popping on here .

We are all with you

You never need to be alone .

Talk to you on Monday when you tell us YOU DONE IT .

Focus on today, right now, this minute. Looking at the whole weekend is overwhelming and can feel IMPOSSIBLE to make it. I've had weekends where I spend HOURS on SR, because I know when I'm here, I won't drink. I know you can do this. Use this thread as a journal, post as often as you need to, write your feelings out, focus on the positive and elaborate on WHY sobriety is important to you.

Stick close to SR and post often! Keep yourself busy. I remember doing A LOT of cleaning and organizing of my condo and my car the first few weekends! And ice cream . I ate a lot of ice cream too

Make a list of all those "to-do" list items that you've been neglecting while drinking and nursing hangovers...and finally get them done! You'll feel great and proud afterward. It'll probably also help to clear the house of any alcohol. You CAN do this.

I know exactly how you feel! This is my second weekend without drinking and it's not easy. But just like others said. Find things to do to keep busy to keep your mind off things.
I know it's hard but if I of all people can do it than you can too!!

Hanging out on here has helped me tremendously!!

So far, so good...It's not as hard as I thought it would be but I do keep myself occupied. I think I can do it but the weekend is not over...I sometimes take it one hour at a time.

Stay busy, stay social, and fight any addictive thoughts. Get supper if you can.m, and keep making progress on both sobriety and improving your life! Good luck!
