Re-Discover Your True Life. Weekender Thread October 12-18
Apparently the storm is very bad in Ireland.
My sister sent me photos of a house with its roof blown off in Clonmel Co. Tipp.
210,000 homes without electricity and one casualty so far (fallen tree)
This seems to be a pretty black year in storm and fire terms worldwide...
I got almost forced off the road this by a lunatic in a van... He should have been locked up. I try to not react but the adrenalin starts to ignite and its hard to keep the calm

Morning, Dragon.
Vman - Work this adrenalin out, don't push it down. You have every right to be angry.
I am feeling much better, though suffer from total lack of energy and low mood. Doing work and trying to keep my brain going.

MB I had to make chicken stock yesterday and gargle--got a cold sore yesterday which tells me body is stressed
The crock pot is a great solution as bim suggested to cooking without a stove

Hawkey, hope your cold sore will heal soon.
Bimini - I am feeling just suspiciously better compared to yesterday. I mean - can it be that simple?!!! And I crave chicken stock now) Probably part of my next paycheck will be invested in crockpot or hot plate.

I got to work this morning and all consultants clinics were cancelled but they were expected to turn up at work anyway. I over heard 2 of them giving out and one of them said "the worst thing about this hospital is that it is managed by a group of *******". Now I'm not too fond of that word but I knew what he meant and I was trying to choke back laughter.
So about 5 of us turned up to work. We thought we might be allowed to leave but we got word from our line manager that the hospital manager said we had to stay. But then our line manager said if we felt unsafe she would turn a blind eye if we wanted to go home. I spent 3 hours this morning trying to get that cancer patient admitted - they gave him a trolley bed in the end, like I knew they would. So at around 12 PM I was the only one there. So I decided to toddle off as well.
I went home and changed into jammies. The wind and rain was very very bad from around 1 PM to 5 PM. At one stage I opened the window and stuck my head out, I was not long slamming it shut again.
About 3 people lost their lives. Salthill was flooded (see picture / not mine, I got it from a local news site). It seems to have quietened down a lot now but still, 3 devastated families tonight. May they R.I.P.

Oh, my goodness. Thanks for letting us know you're okay, Tetra. Hurricanes are scary. After 20 years in Florida, I've had my fill. Sorry about your trolly cot guy. Are you on the NHS in Ireland, too? Or is it something separate?
MidnightBlue...so you bought the neti pot? I'm tellin' ya, it's magic. I use it whenever I have any head related misery. It often works for headaches, too. Definitely works for allergies and colds. I would suggest that you keep using it at bedtime for a few more days.

Hi, weekenders.
I am almost ok, just some residual symptoms. I am testing this bimini miracle cure today at boxing). We'll see how I will perform.
Sao - It looks just so surreal.
Tetra - Glad you made it safe at home.
Bimini - I didn't buy the neti pot just like yours yet - there was no one at nearby pharmacy. I bought a disposable one for now. And, yes, I keep using it before bed and in the morning.
Downthepath - I answered your post on the other thread.
See you all)

MidnightBlue, I have one of the blue plastic ones, too. I like the squeeze bottle best. Glad it works. I've been touting Neti pots for decades. It's genius. The first time I used it with a cold I couldn't believe it. Wow.
I hope you're past the cold.
The Florida eagle nest has dramatic wind and rain noise this morning. I saw the eagles having some um...affection...yesterday. Right now they're adding sticks...

I'm sure some people here might disagree but I like this video.
I remember I was 9 years old and we went to live in Portland Maine for a year. Us kids were fascinated by the squirrels as we never saw them before
I've just seen a cute Koala bear video too. Aw it's so sweet

I am back from boxing and I survived a gruesome workout. And then my trainer sent me to wrap it up with 20 minutes on a treadmill to "burn some fat". How dared he!!!! But, darn, he is right. I need to get rid of some.
It is unbe-freaking-lievable. Just on Sunday I was in bed with cold and fever and as miserable as it gets. Today I am feeling good enough to do an intensive workout.
It is another shift for me from victim mentality. It is actually the first time when I just rejected to follow the automatic pattern "Oh, it's a cold. There is only so much I can do. I have a legit reason to feel pity for myself". Of course, there are times when it's reasonable to stay in bed and give your body more time to heal. But I think you get what I am talking about.
Bimini - I can't thank you enough for saving my week. You just rocked my world!
