Introduction
So, it appears I went right I to posting in the other Alcoholism section with properly introducing myself in this section, I've never been good at reading instructions!
I've copied the introduction I did in the other section.
P.S today is day 4 and I'm looking forward to many more alcohol free days.
I'm 37 years old and have been a regular drinker since the age of 15. I've drank alcoholicly since my early 20s. My story is not much different than anyone else. However, the effects of my drinking have become more apparent in the past 18 months, from a physical, mental as well as social standpoint.
The hangovers are worsening, the inability to control the amount I drank, so on and so forth...
So, I'm trying to be serious about abstaining from alcohol going forward. I live in a small town and hold a job that I cannot be open in public about these issues, so for now group settings are out of the question. Therefore I'm trying this forum as an outlet, I hope I can stick around and perhaps co tribute to some degree.

Hey AM100,
I'm 34, day 4, and my drinking path is almost exactly the same as yours. I hope to see you around lots more
Lots of good resources here, I like to be discreet as well and have found this is a great group.
I won't offer advice but just solidarity.

Welcome aboard
When I stumbled on SR I saw mention of AVRT/RR ( great threads here on SR in the Secular Connection forum) and those ideas really resonated with me, especially the idea of self recovery and self reliance, I recommend giving them a look-see

Do or do not, there is no try , as a wise little green muppet once said
Trying implies holding onto the option to choose to drink again, and that works directly against the notion of abstinence. You can do this , rootin for ya

Welcome AM100
You'll find a ton of support here. congrats on 4 days. I would suggest to have a plan if or when the obsession to drink becomes almost unbearable. Remember to reach out for help before acting on it.
Good luck
