High BP

So today I was at work (work in a medical setting) and tested by blood pressure. It was 146/100. I feel so scared😔 I'm a 30 year old female. Iv looked online and can't see anyone else having such high bps at my age. I know it's directly related to my drinking as Iv tested it when not drinking and it's a lot lower. has anyone else been like this? I'm feeling so upset and stressed right now.

Yes Nyah30 mine was high when I was drinking and for about a month after. It will come down with sobriety I'm certain. Take care and maybe get a check up with your doc xxx

hi and welcome back. Can you maybe see your doc for a full medical check. If you're looking to stop drinking which will birng your BP down you're in great place for help and support.

I am older than you, but my BP was regularly 150/100 when drinking. It started falling 2 weeks into sobriety and was completely normal after a month. Stay around on SR. I couldn't have stopped drinking without the support I got here.

My number were like that in my late 20's. I went in for a checkup and the docs were blown away it was that high at my age, that they checked it 3 times. Had to get on BP meds at 30. With the booze gone, my BP was perfect.

As others have said, high BP is a common side effect of both heavy drinking and of stopping heavy drinking (at least at first, it usually goes down). So don't freak yourself out too much, but definitely get in to see a doctor to make sure this isn't something more serious.

It can be genetic, too. My grandfather was diagnosed at 17 back in the 50s. He wasn’t a drinker then. I was diagnosed at ~30. Part genetics and part alcohol. I am controlling the only one of the two I can now.

It's best to see your Dr, IMO, Nyah.

Maybe your body is not agreeing with your drinking habits?

Wish I would have listened to mine.
