Glad youíre feeling positive today! That sounds yummy! I love having the Pelligrino sparkling juices on hand. I try to save them for a special treat. I think I have blood orange/prickly pear right now. Thatíll be lovely tonight

Good afternoon! In the midst of day 4 here. Went to the salon this morning to get a badly needed touch up on my roots (I started going gray when I was 29, thanks genes :p). Now home and am planning to wash the dog and car in a few. After that...we'll see. I have a list of stuff to be done and I'm trying to find some balance between becoming so overwhelmed by it I do nothing, or becoming so overwhelmed by it I try to tackle it all TODAY and feeling nuts.
Anxiety has been rough lately but I'm managing, and making an effort to catch my own negative thoughts as they come and challenge them/rephrase them in a positive way.

I know exactly what you mean! Struggling myself with that feeling right now. I didnít want to put too much on my list and get overwhelmed. Now itís only noon and I got what I needed to accomplished. Then if I try to relax, I get restless. I put on a movie for the kids and I think Iíll read.

Staying close today as Iím feeling antsy.

Goodafteroon folks ! Well, its afternoon where I am. Weekend going ok so far. The av showed up briefly last pm, but it was a short visit. Lasted about 10 to 15 minutes.

Been out walking the dogs this am, made a nice breakfast, then took myself out for a nice scenic walk at the local park. Rain will be moving in later for a few days though, not happy about that.

Hope everyone is holding on. We got this my friends.

The last few months I've been having that problem too--I've been finding it hard to just relax, I get restless. I seem to be fine in the evening after dark, when I'm tired from the day. It's like it's when my mind and body know they have permission to relax or something.

Welcome Sinderos

I had trouble relaxing too - I'd gotten lazy and intoxicating myself was my relaxation.

I did that for years - so it took a little time to find new healthy ways to relax and to put them into practice...

Like I said exercise was good for me, or a hobby, or a good book, TV show...

It takes a little time, but you'll get there

Thx, D. I've been walking many evenings at the beach or a neighborhood nearby the river that has lots of hills--I don't always do the hills, but it's been a good way for me to burn off some steam. I've gotten kinda out of shape, so for now walking is my plan to get back into things. When winter comes I'm going to join a gym, but as long as weather permits I love being outside.

Today was productive. I gave the dog and car much needed baths (that was excerise in itself), got some other errands done, came home and made a batch of turkey meatballs. Defrosted some of the homemade sauce I had made with tomatoes from my garden earlier this summer...was SO good.
Proud to have day 4 almost in the books!

Hello everyone. I'd like to join the October group.

Today I've been trying to keep busy. I did the following things:
  • Went to the Farmer's market
  • Went for a walk to get some pies to take to my sister's place tomorrow
  • Went to Starbucks and had a latte and started a new book
  • Tried on my new clothes that I got
  • Did the dishes and tidied up
  • Now just relaxing and thought I'd come on here to see what's new
I have no urge to drink tonight so that's a nice feeling.

Sounds like weíve had some good productive days. Congrats everyone!

I was really struggling with some urges, but powered through with the help of some emergency kit kats I found in my bag

Looking forward to getting through the first 2 weeks and the intense cravings.

Iím feeling pretty accomplished today! I spent probably six hours cleaning and organizing my garage. Finally installed some hooks, shelves, etc so hopefully itíll stay looking nice!

I had to stop in the middle to go to my daughterís soccer game and I planned to run through a drive-thru to grab a chicken sandwich. When I got there, the line was practically to the street and there was no way I would have gotten through in time. In the past, I would have gone to the game starving and resentful. But today, I decided to detour to Starbucks and grab a green tea and a bento box. It was perfect!

My daughter is back from her dadís and sheís got a friend spending the night. They have already planned out the morning: bagels, the park, and then the late church service. After that, I want to come home and take care of some housework. Itís nice to have a relaxing but productive plan.

I hope youíre all having a super sober Saturday! I toast my LaCroix to you all!

Hi berry! Nice to meet you. You just reminded me that I should visit my local farm tomorrow for some veggies, and of course to say what's up to the goats.

BrandNew, good job 👏 However I'll say that there's no such thing as me keeping any sort of chocolate any length of time on my person!! :p

I wish there were goats at the market! I love animals. The other day I heard what sounded like horse hooves on pavement but I live in a big city downtown so that would be extremely unlikely. But, sure enough out in the path were 2 guys on horses! It was awesome. I still donít know what that was all about.

Coming up to day eight. It hasn't been easy . Speaking of horses, I'm going to ride one of mine around eleven tomorrow morning. I keep playing the movie all the way to then end when I get the urge to drink, I don't stop it in the middle but finish right to the horrible end.

Berry, I love animals too. But there's just something about goats that just cracks me up, just freaking delights me, hehe! A friend had a few small goats on her property and put a large, old plastic kids playhouse in their pen. They'd climb on the roof of it and just stand there and only come down if they saw you had bread for them.

Zenyatta, how great to have a horse!! And congrats on your 8 days!

So, I had a great day. Feeling great! Dog walks, my walk, breakfast, then dog park for my two babies. Great day! Couldn't or wouldn't have done that if I had been using. Blessed to be sober today! Also went to Mass with my 82 year old Mom. On track for my bucket list of recovery! It was peaceful, and beautiful.

My nephew has had some issues with addiction, pills, and he was in a sober living home for a few weeks. But, unfortunately, his past caught up with him. He now is sitting in jail, until Monday. Im worried about his state of mind, as he recently attempted suicide. He just was getting his life turned around, and Im so afraid this setback will make him relapse, when he gets out of jail on Monday. So, just asking for prayers for him. He got caught up in Percocet addiction, and this has just ruined his life. I love him so, and Im so worried and upset for him. I hope when he gets out of jail on Monday , he will not just say screw this and not face the consequences. Im so worried and upset. Another fine example of how addiction ruins one life. Whatever your poison may be. Its all crap.

I also want to say that Im kinda embarrassed to be here. Only because if you see my join up date, and how long I have been trying to maintain sobriety, it seems like I will never get this right? Others get it right away. Some never do. I really want it. Its damn hard, but worth every effort. I will not stop until I get it.

Thanks friends. Please pray for my nephew . God Bless.

Rest assured Stubbs that although my join date here matches my quit date it was after about 15 years of trying.

Getting and staying sober is one of the hardest things some of us will ever do.

The really great thing is - it can be done!

Morning

I had a goodish sleep last night. After 3 days I feel I am getting back to normal. I haven't done much the last couple of days like I normally would. I've spent a lot of time on here and in other places reading about addictions, why they happen and what to do. Each time I relapse I do this and get more clarity - I think I need to connect more with people so my intention is to really engage on here this time. I get complacent and stop coming on here. I'm isolated in that I don't know of anyone in my family or friends circle that suffer from addiction and the fewer people that know the better. I've also found rooms on here this time that I haven't come across before with useful stuff in them.

Sunday here today. Last day before facing work tomorrow that got neglected last week. I'm taking my youngest for a run in the morning and then my middle boy has a party this aft with my eldest coming for tea. He moved out recently.
