Three Hundred And Sixty Six Days
Three Hundred And Sixty Six Days
Just checking in to say yesterday was my ONE YEAR SOBER.
I am not posting this for a pat on the back or a thousand likes and all that cak. Just to say IT IS DO ABLE.
I am 49. Drank heavily (mainly beer) for twenty years plus.
Never drank as a teenager. Used to bodybuild/martial arts etc.
Started drinking to 'knock me out at night' simply to get a nights sleep.
I ended up drinking for the sake of it (male ego thing I think).

I know you don't want it but you do deserve a pat on the back and a zillion likes because one year is a huge achievement. It's so inspiring to know that it is possible. There is life after alcohol. A better life. Massive congratulations Coleman, thank you for posting.
Thanks for the comments.
Just a few thoughts and comments myself.
I drank EVERY DAY this century up until a year ago.
When I say drank I mean DRANK.
Anything from four cans of light beer up to any amount you can think of.
This might sound stupid but I swear I drank myself sober sometimes.
Was the last year hard? - YES
Did I think about drinking beer? - YES EVERYDAY... I even DREAMED of drinking beer in the first few months?
I kept tabs with an app on my phone for motivation.
When I got a craving I went and literally slept off the craving.
I had to get stubborn with myself.
I even turned down the Xmas pudding at my folks house on Xmas day as it was (according to the packaging) drowned in 'Real Cider'.
If I went out for lunch I didn't have beer battered fish or ribs in Jack Daniels sauce etc
Do I think about beer now? YES EVERY DAY
But it does get easier I can promise you that much.
According to the app I use I have not spent $5232.83 on beer. Do I have this money? NO
I can almost guarantee you that figure is a very conservative estimate. I would guess its half again as much on top.
You have to be stubborn with yourself. It's hard but it's THE ONLY WAY.

Nice job ColemanReese! I can definitely relate to the sentiment that you "have to be stubborn with yourself." I completely agree. Good luck on your second year. I struggled a bit for the first couple months of my second year because the whole "wow, this is my first {insert event/holiday here** sober in 20 years" thing was no longer true, but after that it has been mostly clear sailing.
