1 month today!
Today I'm celebrating 1 month sober and decided it was time to post!
I was a functional alcoholic for years. I never drank during the day, but from 8-2 every night, I would drink until I passed out. As crazy as it sounds, I measured every drink, and knew exactly how many I could have and be just below the legal limit when driving to work the next morning. It never occurred to my addicted brain how crazy that was.
Anyway, back in early August I began tapering and had my final drink on 8/24. Reading this site has become a daily ritual, as I tick off the days one at a time. Thanks to everyone for posting their experiences, which has helped me greatly over the past month.
After a month sober, I find that I'm a lot less irritable and feel like a better husband and father. Oh, and I can't even begin to explain what a full night of REAL sleep feels like!
My next challenge is quitting a 16-year pack a day smoking habit. I've tried quitting countless times but I've never felt stronger and more confident!
Looking forward to sharing my journey with everyone!

Congratulations on your month.
And good luck with the smoking. I used the whyquit website a lot when I was stopping. I especially found this timeline of benefits useful... Stop Smoking Benefits Timetable
Keep up the good work.
