Thank You Weekenders. 22-24th Sept
Ugh, Bikes Blues and BBQ week and weekend here in NW Ark. Honestly, it does nothing for me but makes me grateful I am not drinking or drugging anymore. I shall wake up all weekend with no headache/ drug hangover! Happy weekend, I am staying in my town and not going to Fayetteville!
Thanks for all your past humor and wisdom, Sao. Are you leaving SR, or just retiring from Weekender Producer?
Regardless, I've enjoyed your musings and will miss you. How will I learn London-isms? Sigh. One thing that's constant, and that is change.
I went looking for a cute penguin hug gif, but this is more appropriate.

Welcome to Weekenders Zanna, SaturatedSeize and jessicamae! It is always a good idea to plan something to do over the weekend in place of what we all used to do. Glad you cpuld join us.
I'm not leaving SR or Weekenders biminiblue! Cool gif, us penguin can be very territorial.
I agree you would be great MLD51.
I have spilled some diet tonic water over my new calculater I have a decimal point that floats for real now. Could have been my laptop I suppose. Nearly hometime.

Oh no, Sao! Your poor calculator. At least it was only water so it's not sticky?
Welcome Wick! Feel free to post often - weekends can be rough but there's lots of good company here!
I have to be up at 5 tomorrow and I can already tell it won't be an early night for me...

Welcome saturated and wick...making a plan for a feeling good sober weekend is essential. ..at least for me. Find some fun activities, keep busy, distract yourself from the temptation to drink. And think it through. ...how good you'll feel if you don't drink, and how terrible you'll feel if you do. I promise, it gets easier.
Welcome to Weekenders wick!
Thank you DS, I will still be on Weekenders, just not leading off as I do not want to become repetitive. Marty's idea of sharing OP's is a good one, after a break I would be up for that myself.

THANK YOU SAO!!!! You have done an amazing job of helping others week in and week out. Even when we, as the openers, can sometimes feel run down I know how it feels to come here and want to give all you can to kick things off right for those just starting this journey. Can we find the right words? What will the topic be? You always gave it all.
I will be hanging out this weekend with you all.
I have a nice weekend planned. A day trip saturday with a new friend. One of the last beach days sunday. Just don't drink and don't change my mind!
Sober on team!

Ring Ring
*Ring Ring*
What does it mean? In the words of Mecanix...
“The first bell is the bell of mindfulness, calling to me and you.
It says stop what am i doing right now, take some breaths, feel my body, am I holding it tight and tense? Relax… calm down… life is a journey and not a destination, make the journey as glorious as possible.
The second bell is the freedom bell and I'm ringing it for you to let you know freedom from drink and drugs is available to you, come and hear us calling out to you.”
For the longest time, many years now, this has been the mantra of the weekenders. Ring Ring my friends!

I am so massively indebted to you Weasel and Mecanix for humanising something as robotic as the need to throw alcohol down my neck 24/7 Alcoholic plus me . The "ring ring" is so insightful - I would have felt a fraud repeating it
- it is such a part of Weekenders but it is so true. Freedom, you don't have to be a slave- it really does get easier.
